| Yorkie on Houseboat Every year my mother, sister and I go away for a long weekend on a houseboat. This is the first year that I have my yorkie and I just found out that he is allowed to go with us!! I am so happy that he doesn't have to be left behind. Has anyone else done this? Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.

| We have a sailboat that sleeps 6 people that we take ours out on. They love it. You will need a life vest for him. Also make sure to take plenty of water. Mine get really thirsty out on the water in the sun. I also take their harnesses and lead, food, some toys and some treats. You and your pup will have a great time

| I took my gang on a house boat for a long weekend several years ago. I don't have any special advice for you. I didn't have life jackets but it would probably be a good idea when you're on the decks etc. They had fun and it was fun having them with us.. ( I only had 2 yorkies at that time ) |

| Interesting this came up. I just reserved a houseboat for 5 days in August. I definitely want to get a life jacket. Fortunately, I'll only have Fancy as CJ will be with his handler (another reason for going away, depression from being away from him). We'll have to compare stories on our houseboating adventures.

| Ahhh we did this last year! Really, just need everything you'd need for vacation in a home away from home! And I life jacket if you'd like to take him in the water....Both Vixxen and Lexxi were fine on it for a week!

| We spent 20 summer weekends a year plus vacations for 10 years on our sailboat with our dogs. It was great. Just try and go for a long walk everyday with him to help burn off some of that energy & watch the sun and heat. Have a great time & let us know how it went.

I can't believe you didn't tell me about this. The nerve of you waiting till my grandson was away on the show circuit. If Fancy tells him, he is going to be so mad. Just kidding where will you be vacationing. Mary

| Actually, I only booked it yesterday. Going August 13th just down to Lake Buchanan, just north of Austin. The kids will be out of school and one is taking off work to make this a family outing. Also, just realized how HOT it's going to be!!!!! Imagine, Fancy and I will spend a lot of time under the air conditioning. (We're wimps you know). Like vampires, we'll come out at night....Wonder if I could teach Fancy to fish? It will probably be CJ telling Fancy what a good time he was having with Trish on his trip. Fancy will be the one that gets mad! Dragging her down to some stinky, hot lake. Now, I just have to figure out what to do the next 3 weeks till I see my little guy at the specialty.

| We own a 45 foot houseboat. We have it on the Missouri river. My dogs have all done very well. I would suggest a life jacket. We have them and if the dogs are going to be out on the deck as we are 'driving', they are in their jackets. Mostly, we go to a sandbar and stay for the day or up to 2-3 nights. Have fun, just watch the little one. Also, watch for hawks, eagles and such, don't leave your dog alone. |

The houseboat is at the lake, but you can go down/up the Colorado River and find coves, waterfalls, and wildlife. Great photo opt. There's even a winery! Anything else I should be aware of?

| We have a 25 foot cabin cruiser, and our 3 love to go "bye-bye" with us. We do have life jackets for all three and the rule is that they must have jacket on if they are above board. Another hint would to take pee pads as when nature calls you will be in the middle of the trip and not be able to dock fast enough. I buy the real cheap ones and put a new one down after each use. Have a wonderful trip and take pictures.

| It was so much fun to be on a houseboat with my yorkie. We all enjoyed it a lot and he loved it. He felt and acted like a sailor. It was a lot of fun and I would recommend it to anyone.
