Waivers work for this type of issue. I had to sign one when I went flying in a major celebrity's plane a couple years ago, because he had such deep pockets, as I suppose the airlines do. The chances of anything happening to me were extremely remote, but I understood the risks and was happy to sign. The cabin air pressure and quality is obviously good enough for a pet. I imagine if cabin pressure got low, there could be an issue w/masks, but if the owner were to waive responsibility for such an occurrence, I don’t see the problem.

One flight attendant (who was the nasty type that would yell at me for even letting my little pippin stick his head out of the carrier, even though he was barking his head off since he needed to see) told me that the high fees were due to "cleaning up" after pets. I don't believe there is any credence in that argument either, as I have never seen a pet make a mess on board, at least not one that the owner could not clean up. Don’t we allow for unattended minors and babies to fly? Babies that don’t get their own seat, fly for free. Parents change their diapers on board. I am not saying that a pet is as important as a person, that is not the issue, only trying to see the airlines logic in charging exorbitant fees. I will try to write an airline or two on their web sites and see what kind of packaged response I get.

Oh, I did not take your post that way. I agree with you...I am merely saying what their side is .. not that I agree. That is everyone's excuse.

Heck, I see rescues saying they will not take in a yorkie that bites because they might get sued. ANY yorkie can bite!

BUT....we must remember we live in a sue happy society and people can find attorneys to take just about ANY case.

Could very well be. But, we use to get a Voucer that we turned in for an airline ticket. On the back of the voucher it stated our pets flew free.

Probably varies from airline to airline. They have different fees and also different rules about pets. Some only allow two pups in a cabin per flight.

American, it is 7 in main cabin and 2 in first class. But, that is lifted during Westminster....It's their money making time. I really prefer flying American with my dogs, I've never had an issue.

Back to the carriers...I got a small and a medium at this site:

PET CARRIERS IN FAUX CROCODILE

Both with shipping included were 80.11...not bad!

I have a fear of AA. I had a bad experience once with them in Chi and never again. That was right before 911.

I have the exact same one in small and medium.....I love all the pockets.....even a holder for your cell phone.....Pocket for we pads, wipes, small spray bottle of self rinse and another pocket for plane ticket and dog records. Great Carrier....I like it better than my LV. Great Price.

I had a moc croc one that was a burgundy color but I gave it to an adopter and have never been able to find another one like it. I am wondering if this might be a good substitute.

Never had a problem with them........and their flight attendants are usually very pet friendly.....they've even brought me bottled water and a little plate of chicken for my dog.

I was in the Nordstrom's Rack one day....There was a Juicy there I picked it up and it had a sale price of $99.00. I thought, just what I need another carrier.....put it back down, walked around and thought about it again.....I went back and it was gone.......darn, I could have kicked myself.

Ohhhh and I was meant to have another new carrier today!!

I had to call the Coach store today about something and they told me that a carrier someone had purchased had been returned. It is a bag I had wanted that is out in all of the stores, so I went right over and got it. So...now I have three new ones!
