Hotel Fees (for pets) Since we have put the RV away, we haven't done any traveling!!!......BUT, we are going to be traveling this coming Thanksgiving Holiday. :yay_jump: We are staying at a hotel that is charging us $50 extra for the furbutts. (the usual place we stay at is booked) Does anyone think that this excessive for having them stay with us for 3 nights? The hotel is VERY nice... and we have more of a suite (bedroom, kitchenette, living area). I just have never stayed where a fee was charged to have them..... and it looks like this is something that is getting more and more common. |
A local hotel (Comfort Inn) charges $10 per night for each pet. We are in small market area though, in larger cities I would expect to pay more probably. |
We have stayed at many a hotel with the pooches and the most we have ever been charged was 20.00 but most only charge 10.00. 50.00 is definately over priced IMO. |
.......OK..... I will clarify....... a one stay fee of $50. So maybe it ain't too bad from what I am reading. 2 Yorkies at $10 per night at 3 nights would be $60......... It just sounds so expensive to me. (and we used to not have to pay anything!) The town that we are going to is quite big, but only has 2 hotels that allow pets in it. It really makes it dificult. |
We paid $25 for one night at the hotel we stayed at. |
we paid $40 per week at a holiday inn in Orlando... |
It doesn't sound unreasonable to me. |
I've only stayed at Sheaton's and W's and they don't charge but it doesn't sound unreasonable to me. |
I try and always stay at a Sheraton, but other nice places I have checked do charge by the night, so $50 for the whole stay sounds reasonable to me. |
When hubby was a Road Warrior, I took my poodle and traveled with him....When we were in Maryland- They charged a flat $75 fee...We were there for 3 months....Then when we transfered to Springfield Missouri- that hotel charged $50 flat fee.....We were there 2 months...So we did not think the fee was so bad....But we had stayed in hotels that were $10 a nite.... |
2 Attachment(s) the best hotel ever for Chi Chi was the Westin; they were very pet friendly , they provided bedding and bowls for her and we did not have to pay anything extra! |
I think that's not bad at all. As far as I know, most hotels charge a per day fee rather than a per stay fee. I think you're ok, and even more knowing that's a very nice hotel :) |
We have only traveled once this summer since we got Izzy and they charged us an extra $15.00 per night to have her with us which to me was worth it since you would pay that for boarding...at least you know they are safe with you and you are not worrying your head off. ;) But that's not bad for a one-time fee though....I like that idea better. |

I think its funny how some hotels charge a lot and others charge nothing. Ritz Carlton's, Marriott Suites, and W Hotels don't charge us a dime. However, Residence Inn in Anaheim charged us a flat rate of $100 for two nights!!! We were very upset about that and eventually got that taken off the bill, but it was pretty outrageous! |

Also, at W, do they provide pet bed and bowls to your dog? I know Westin does?? |
I stayed at the W in Seoul, South Korea, Jul 07, with my little furgirl and they charged a daily fee and a $100 nonrefundable cleaning fee. By the end of our stay, I didn't mind because they treated us like royalty. She had her own pet bed, place mat, dish and complimentary(not sure if you pay a nightly fee the gift is complementary, but I like to pretend...) toy/gift box and gourmet treats. They found us a groomer and the door guy took her for a little walk while I checked out. I have pictures if you'd like to check out what they gave us. My friends laughed at me for taking her, but overall we had a great little pampered girl's week. Nothing beats seeing a doggie treat on the pillow with turn down service:) |
Update!!....... the $50 fee was soooooo worth it. The hotel was really nice. Very Clean AND there were many other dogs there ( and they were all well-behaved AND leashed). It was also nice having a place with a kitchen. Shelby & Seymour had their pee pad in the tiled bathroom....... and they were diligent about using it. We never left them in the room alone.... but they did give us magnet to put on the door that said " Pet in Room". ( I really don't trust leaving them alone..... you never know who works at the hotel.... or what friends that they let in). Anyway, we will be staying there again. |
When we stay at a motel, it's always at a Residence Inn By Marriott. They do the best job of upkeep and cleaning I've ever seen. They do a great breakfast, have inside heated pool, jaccuzi, work out room, store and more. We always get a suite so we have bedroom, living room and kitchen. They allow pets but you never smell any stinky room. |

Oh, I would love to see pic!! please post some here!!:D |
We just stayed at the Crown Plaza in Knoxville, TN and they charged us $25 for a pet fee. I'm not sure if that was supposed to be for each day or the whole time but they only charged $25 total. They didn't have any special things for dogs except they were really friendly and the valet/bell guys had biscuits for the dogs. |
3 Attachment(s) Here's a couple of pics from the W in Seoul. Really, she's not spoiled... |

We have stayed at AmeriSuites, and a variety of other hotels with our two babies. By far the best was Hotel Monaco in downtown Seattle. It's a boutique hotel. No extra charges for the two little furbabies. We wanted to buy a little jacket for our female with their logo on it, and they couldn't find the price - so they gave it to us! They are part of the Kimpton hotels, and soooooo pet friendly and lovely. Close walk to everything in Seattle. Check them out if you want luxury and your pets. |
We take our 2 with us and have stayed at some great pet friendly hotels. The Cypress in Cupertino/San Jose is a nice pet friendly hotel with beds, water bowls and treats as well as the W in San Francisco. We have paid as little as $20.00 and as much as $100.00 for pet deposits. I am glad your trip worked out well for all of you.:) |
