Update: Kelly is a little "light headed" and trying to eat more solid food. Nothing seems to taste good to her yet. Her DH is fixing her some baked chicken and boiled potatoes for supper, maybe she'll be able to eat.
& ...Patty is heading home today!!! She is amazing and so strong. They started the 5 hr trip earlier this afternoon. Her gut stopped working yesterday but took off and started working this morning. She's eating and has energy and her Creatinine level in her blood was over 12 before the transplant and it was at 1 yesterday. Normal for an adult woman is 0.5 to 1. Her "Kelly Kidney" (that's what she calls it) is working great.

Kel had a rough night and her DH called the U of M Med Center Nurse this morning. The pain meds made her sick again so she's only taking Extra Strength Tylenol. She was dehydrated, needs to eat more protien and her blood sugar was low. We took some juice to her, got her to eat some chicken breast and I tested her blood and she was better. We also checked her bp and it was fine. She perked up this afternoon when the kids came home from the other grandma's. Patty is making the 5 hr trip back to U of M on Tuesday for her checkup. Kel goes next Tuesday.

Patty went to U of M for her 1 wk checkup and the kidney is working at 100% !!! She has still had some nausea and is on 2 meds for that. She goes for her 2 wk appt on Tuesday....I'll take Kelly for her follow-up appt on Tuesday also, so the girls will be together for the day. They text and send recovery pictures back & forth every day.
Kelly is feeling much better. She is starting feel hungry and ask for certain foods. We're fixing anything she asks for at this point.

I'm so happy to here Patty's Kelly Kidney is doing great!

Good to read the Kelly is starting to eat better, too. I'm sure they will be so happy to see each other Tuesday.
