I had to put my dog to sleep a week ago today

Our Amber (Yorkie) lived to 16 years old and we had to let her go to sleep as well. It was some time ago but we miss her dearly. We have her ashes in a small container with angel wings attached to it .

She is still here in spirit and we know that she is enjoying puppy heaven as she always stood guard over our Yorkie litters for so many years.

It is never an easy decision let our trusting pets go to the rainbow bridge. I had to live through the same decision 3 times in a 6 week period in Jan/Feb 2008. Their little urns are nearby right now. The sweet memories of our pets live with us forever.

I had my dog cremated too. The vet called me on Tuesday and said her ashes were ready to picked up. Walking into that vet it was like putting her to sleep all over again. It was a horrible feeling. I know I still have all the memories with her, but it's not the same as having her here. Thanks everyone for all of the nice things you have said.

So sorry for your loss.We had to put our 17 year old Suzie down last month.I feel the same way.We put it off as long as we could but it was still so hard to do.

it's never easy putting a pet to sleep..but what you just said she couldn't walk and her eyesight wasn't very good and if she was starting to lose control of her bowels then that means everything was shutting down and if you didn't put her down she would die on her own and probably suffer greatly this way she didn't have to suffer.. my first yorkie daisy was 11wks old and i had to put her to sleep she was born with fluid around her brain and was dying in my arms when i had to make the choice..my husband stayed with her cause i ran out of the room screaming..so i feel for your lost but just remember she's up in heaven waiting for you and probably chasing the birds and butterflys up there..so sry for your lost
