I'm so sorry to hear about Hot Rod. I posted in your other thread about my cat Suki who had struvite crystals about 10 yrs ago. After this 1st incidence I started to feed him Purina for Urinary Tract as per recommendation from the vet and he never had another reoccurrence. Just last year he was diagnosed with Diabetes, which went away after several injections of insulin. So I've decided to switch his food to Wellness that has 'urinary health systme'. He's been on it the last few months and has been doing well. I hope everything will be alright with Hot Rod. I will certainly keep him in my thoughts.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. Ever since I made the appt, he has been walking fine! Go figure. He goes in first thing in the morning for xrays so I will have some answers tomorrow hopefully.

I am hoping that a diet change will be all that we need to do. Glad that your baby Suki is doing okay.

(posted this in my other thread). Well, we went to the vets today and got somewhat good new and some bad news. At this moment in time, he doesn't have stones but definitely still has a UTI. There is still a lot of crystals in his urine. Vet can not be sure if he will develop stones from this as it can happen or not. So we are doing another culture, trying a new diet and new meds until we get results-hopefully by Friday. His pH level was at 8.

Now for the new issue that was seen today...

The vet can not be 100% sure, as they did not sedate him for xray, but one of Hot Rod's legs is is shorter than the other. It is also bowed outward. He wasn't very cooperative so she is not sure if it is in fact shorter since he didn't want to extend it. The hip alignment is off. She thinks that this is a probable cause for not wanting to walk. And in addition to this he has an apparent injury to his back. Could be from playing with Maggie or just overcompensating for his leg. She wants to figure out the UTI issue first and then figure out what is going on with his leg.

Thank you. Hopefully we'll get the uti cleared up with this round of meds. He was so tuckered out tonight. He was all curled up in the blankie next to mommy all night snoozing.

Thanks, he finally ate something. It's been just about 24 hours! Vet really wants him to only eat S/O food at least til we get test results. The other bad thing is that he needs to take his meds with food so he's only had 1 dosage.
