Hi Sandy, just wanted to let you know that I'm still sending up thoughts and prayers for you and Krysten. |
Sandy, How is Krysten doing? How are you handling all of this? I would imagine it has been very hard on you. I pray that your dd will come and talk with you as she continues to process this. This has led me to re-visit the issue with my dd who is just a little younger than Krysten. The fact that you have shared this with us may help another young lady. Last night on the local news, they led with a story about the increase of rapes due to these drugs. Here is a link to the story - I don't know if anything in there would be helpful to you, but maybe for others that have heard Krysten's story Iowans On Alert For 'Date Rape Drug' - Des Moines News Story - KCCI Des Moines |
I am so sorry My thoghts and prayers are with you both. God bless. |
I am so sorry that this happened to your daughter. I am sending prayers for her and your family. I have an 18 year old daughter who goes out to the underage clubs with her friends and I am always telling them to ask for unopened sodas or water and open them themselves. Never leave a drink unattended even for a minute, take them where ever they go or get a new one and never take a drink from someone you don't know! A lady I worked with a few years ago has a daughter that woke up on the floor of a building downtown after being out with her friends. She had no idea how she got there or what happened to her. Her friends were dancing and never saw her leave. The police investigated and all they found was a cab driver was told to drop her off there. The building was locked, she had to call the police to help her. Very scary stuff going on these days. |
Thank you for your support. Krysten is doing quite well. She knows she can't change what happened so she is moving on from there. She is very strong and can handle just about anything that is handed to her. Now that she knows how easy it is for someone to slip it into a drink - any drink - she will be far more careful. The article in the paper(thank you YorkieSmiles) says it all. It's hard to report it since you can't remember anything and don't have a clue what happened. Then, to figure out who is responsible can be next to impossible unless someone saw something. Since people aren't watching for that kind of thing they don't pay any attention to who is doing what around any unattended drink. Since it happened, I've come across the same thing happening to others that never reported it. "Officer, I woke up somewhere strange - I don't know how I got there, who else may have been there with me or what happened. Can you help me?" Officer: "Uh, yes M'am, maybe you shouldn't drink so much" or "Sorry, M'am, I can't help you if you have no info to go on". Not neccessarily this situation every time, but certainly many times. Krysten has our friend at the Rape and Crisis Center that she can talk to any time, day or nite, even tho she talks to me alot. The world has become such a sad place to grow up in. |
Your daughter is lucky to have such a loving and understanding mother to support her through such a tough time...I hope everything will work out for her in the end, she definitely deserves a happy ending. My prayers go out for you both. |
