This storm really has me scared. We live in southeast Texas and the storm might be coming very near where we live. If it comes in where they are predicting then we will be on the bad side of the storm. I am praying the storm really weakens before landfall and I pray everyone will be safe. When hurricane Rita hit three years ago we had 100 mph winds at our house and no electricity for 3 weeks. I sure don't want to have to experience anything like that again.

I've been watching the weather channel for the past week or so, but just about 10 minutes ago, they said the winds were recorded to be 139 miles per hour, I thought I heard it wrong but they said it again a few minutes ago! Wouldn't that make it a CAT4???? I'm scared to death here, my brother lives in South West Louisiana, being on the worst side of it and not knowing for sure where it's gonna hit, I'm so, so scared. It'll be another sleepless night here more than likely.

The winds have slowed down a little. Right now they think it will strike as a category 3. It still has time to pick up speed, though. It's not supposed to hit until late tomorrow night. Try not to worry too much! I live in east TX, about 3 hours north of Houston. We have a lot of evacuees here, but our little town is well equipped to handle it:) Will your brother evac?

Trying hard not to worry but I just can't help it. No, my brother can't evacuate, he works for the state prison and isn't allowed to leave, same thing as when Gustav went through, he wasn't allowed to leave then either. I hope you stay safe, I'll be praying for you!!

It's so hard not to worry about something like this! I'll bet your brother will be just fine:) Thank you for praying for me! My son, dil and 2 grandsons will come stay with us for a couple of days. They just live 30 miles south of us, but their power goes out every time the wind blows:rolleyes: We will bake cookies, watch movies and eat pizza! I try to make it fun so that the little boys don't worry about the wind and rain;) We just did this with Gustav:eek:

We are on the southwest side of Houston so we look like we will take a direct hit if it stays on path. We have my stepson/DIL/Grandson and their dog with us here!! We are going to ride it out!!
Everyone stay safe!! I just hope we don't lose power as it is still in the 90's here during the day.
