| Just moved to SAN ANTONIO area we have moved again, but we are only stationed here for 3 1/2 months so I would like to know is there anything that anyone recommends we do or see while we are in the area? We are actually living in Live Oak right outside of san antonio. Also, does anyone who lives around here that is happy with there groomer and willing to recommend one? We hope to make the most of our time here, wish us luck. At petsmart today we saw 4 yorkies, the most i have seen in one place, we used to live in a really small farming community. thank you laura

| It's not in San Antonio, but if you have a day for a joy ride, the area outside the west of Austin is absolutely wonderful. Hope you enjoy your time in Texas. Oops, almost forgot, you need to go to Seaworld! |

| I don't live in San Antonio so I can't recommend any groomers. I have spent lots of time in SA so here are my recommendations. San Antonio has a lot of Texas history - if you are interested in the like. If you are, you should see the Alamo and take the Mission tour and see other historical spots. The Mexican market is always interesting. You could go to a Spurs basketball game - always entertaining. There are some really cool places in the Hill Country - just northeast of SA. The little town of Boerne (pronounced Burn - knee) has lots of little shops and antiques. It is decorated beautifully for Christmas, as are many little towns around SA. You could go to the river walk for the Christmas water parade - which is the Friday or Saturday (can't remember which day) after Thanksgiving. BUT plan to get there early, stake out your spot, and wait for the parade to start. It starts at dark because it is a lighted parade and the floats are absolutely beautiful. It will take you a lot of tiime to get out also, as there are about 100,000 people down there - it is amazing!!! If you don't make the parade, go to the river walk at night between Thanksgiving and Christmas and see the lights - simply beautiful! You can go to the space needle in downtown and eat dinner - best view of the city!!! I don't know if you wear SAS shoes - I'm old and my feet hurt (my hubby's too!) and so we make regular trips to the SAS FACTORY in south SA, near Division street, where the prices are MUCH cheaper than in the stores - and there are cool antique cars in the store too. The Root candle factory is on Flores street and you can get GREAT prices on wonderful candles. It's only a couple of hours to the coast - Corpus Christi or other little coastal towns - lots of things to do down there and the winter is a great time to go - less heat and humidity! The winter is my favorite time to go to the coast - I don't like the heat and humidity of the summer. It's only 75 miles to Austin - music capital of the world - if you like live music - you can find it here! You can also visit the State Capitol in Austin or go to the LBJ Presidential library on the University of Texas campus. There is bound to be others in the SA area with more recommendations!

| thank you for all the recommendations We are from Florida but would love to do the seaworld thing agin We have been told many times about the riverwalk and went to base today to get information on the night parade after thanksgiving. SAS shoes sounds great to me, my mother in law wears them so maybe i can' pick her up a new pair for christmas if it is going to be cheaper. There is a Petsmart near by so i guess i could get lexi groomed there but she has always gone to a private groomer that let me sit there and watch, but i can give it a try. thank you so much for all the helpful info. Corpis sounds great too.

| I use to live not far from Live Oak off of loop 1604 south close to HWY 87. I used the Petsmart at The Forum. I only used it once when I had Gidget, I normally just groomed her myself. I friend of mine that lives in Floresville, uses the Pet Smart at the Forum for her s**tzu all the time. She loves them. If you like Fajitas eat at El Comino Ranch off of 35 across from the Forum. Their Sunfired Fajitas are awesome. San Antonio is a really nice place. I am back in a small country town about 1hr & 45 mins from there. There is alot to do in SA. Go to www.mysa.com it will give you alot of upcoming entertainment. Let me know if you have any questions about SA, I might be able to help you. Are yall stationed at Randolph? |

| I grew up in SA, 2 of the things I remember most are the Alamo & the River walk. It's amazing how the mind works. Remembering it now just like I was there. The one thing I still marvel at is how SMALL the Alamo actually is. I would definately go there. BTW, growing up in Texas is my excuse for talking funny! lol

| This may be a little far from you but my aunt lives in Live Oak too and takes her dogs to our vet. Him and his staff have taken care of our pets since I was a little girl. Fredericksburg Road Animal Hospital Dr. Robert D. Gramberry, D.V.M. 3493 Fredericksburg Road San Antonio, TX 78201 (210) 732-1981 He also has a groomer. My mom uses her for her dogs. She is really good with the dogs. I think her name was Yoily something like that. Our new Yorkie has not had the chance to go to her yet but she will when her hair grows out some more. A really net pet park to take your Yorkie to is McAllister Dog Park. http://www.sanantonio.gov/sapar/dogpark.asp There grand Opening is this Saturday, March 30th. |
