I live in Austin, Texas, now but I grew up in El Paso, Texas. I spent most of my weekends going to our cabin in Alto, NM, or wherever else we felt like driving to growing up. If there is grass in El Paso which is straight desert, I promise you will find grass in NM. There will be more zeroscaping (landscaping with rocks and cactus instead of grass and bushes) but you will still find people who hold out and grow grass. Where in NM are you moving? |
I live in Lubbock Texas which is not that far from New Mexico and I know lots of people that have cattle ranches up there and there is grass, It may just depened on where in NM that you live but there is lotsof places with grass. Good Luck with the move. Tess |

New Mexico` I lived in the 4-corners in Aztec, Farmington, we were 45-minutes from Durango Colorado. And yes they don't have grass. Where I lived they put down rocks.(?) its very desert like. It had the seasons. I loved it there but it was too far away from family. We lived there for 8-years We are back in Texas. My kids are still there. Hope this helps Cheryl/Jack/Bella/some day a biewer:animal-pa |

Hi moving to new mexico, I live in el paso but I visit Albuquerque every 6 months because Trinket has a dry eye and their is an opthamologist in Albuquerque that is just great. It is harder to grow grass on the mountain than in the valley but the dogs adapt quickly to zerocape. In el Paso I live on the mountain and in my back yard there is only rock but we have no fleas or ticks and I consider that a good trade off. I might also mention that if you want grass it is available at a cost....water, fertilizer, mowing, etc. Allow for some time of adjustment but I think you will enjoy the location. It is a nice city. |

If you have any vet suggestions in the area I am open to suggestions. The worst part of moving will be finding new doctors, vets, someone to cut my hair etc etc!! |
new mexico newcomer I can't really help you much with vets, physicans or beauticians, only where the cassinos, and Trinkets opthamologhist are located. Shopping is pretty good there. I always enjoy our trips to Albuequerque. |
