another newbie to New Mexico... About 3 weeks ago we moved to Albuquerque from Marylands Eastern Shore and absolutely love it here! The "no grass" is not a big deal and actually I prefer to stay on un-vegetated places with the fur butts b/c of the stickers...:eek: Last weekend we were up on Sandia Peak with the tram... what a treat! |
Hi Mitzi's mom and welcome! We spent last week-end in Albuequierque and love to make that little journey. We have 2 dogs and both have eye problems. We had to take the boxer to the eye clinic last Friday. Trinket goes back in a year, but the Boxer has to go back in 6 months. I'll bet we are back long before that because we enjoy the journey and love the city. We are so glad that you find it a nice place to land. If you get to El Paso let us know. We would love to show you around. |

Good Vets I personally don't know any Vets in Albuquerque but I would call the EyeCare For Animals and ask there for information. I would hope you would find someone there helpful. You might tell them that Trinket (name of my Yorkie) from El Paso is a patient of Dr. Kennard. They know us well!!! Their number is 505-292-3600. Hope this helps. |

My daughter lives in Albuerqerque and I just got back from visiting her. All the houses in her neighborhood had gorgeous green grassy front lawns. Granted they very small lawns and had sprinkler systems to keep them green. I took early morning walks and all the sprinklers were on. About a mile from her home was a beautiful park with green grass. There's grass in New Mexico you just have to work at it to keep it. Hopefully you'll be able to find a place that has the grass. |
I am a native New Mexican and we do have lots of grass. Most of NM has watering restrictions on types of grass that require a lot of water but we are by no means "grassless". Lots of pet friendly parks. I have been to most of the states in the USA including Alaska and Hawaii and I would never consider living anywhere else. So much variety here you never get bored with the same landscape view. Albuquerque is high desert (well over 5,000' downtown and close to 6500' in the far northeast heights) with cooler nights, low humidity, 4 seasons, etc. A bazillion places to visit especially if you like outdoors, hiking, biking, miles of trails, longest tram in the world, surrounded by wonders such as El Malpais National Park, lots of Indian pueblos, ancient cultures, museums, etc. You will love it!! new mexico has grass i lived here my whole life....... they call us a desert state but i don't understand that because it snows here like crazy..... should a desert have snow lol........ youll have grass :).......... |
