Yorkie/Cocker Spaniel Babies Well...we have had a little accident...my little girl got away from the sitter when we were at the beach and My male registered cocker spaniel got a hold of her...at first I was very upset...but now that I see pics of the babies..they are just adorable!! So i will have puppies available sometime in December. The name my vet told me would be CORKIE. They should be between 4-10 pounds and the only differance I can see is that their ears don't stand up. They have the same coloring and the same sweet little faces. I do plan to breed her again next year but I like to skip a cycle between her puppies as she is my baby and I don't want her to suffer from too many litters. Any one interested just let me know. |
that is very dangerous !! i would stop right away !! |
I know, I have already spoken to my vet about it and he assures me that she will be ok and that we will just have to watch her closely. It has worried me considerably. As I wasn't home when it happened I was pretty upset and the fact that I hadn't bred her myself, we didn't know when it had happened until it was way too late. We have just found out she is pregnant and she is near due. So she will be staying with the vet so he can watch her closely. Lucky me I am very good friends with the vet and his wife. I can guarantee it won't happen again. My cocker spaniel is being neutered as we speak!! |
Aren't cocker spaniels much bigger than yorkies? How much bigger is the male than your yorkie? I will pray that everything turns out okay... |
Kinda curious... if you knew you had two pets that were'nt spayed or neutered, what in the world did you think was going to happen?!? I dont understand how its "shocking or upsetting" to you that this happend? |
We keep crickett in the house ALL the time. Oreo was at one time a breed dog for us and he is outside. You don't have to be nasty. I wasn't even home when this happened. I thought I left her with a responsible pet sitter. It didn't work out that way. And no, my cocker spaniel is not that large. I have had both of them thourougly checked out by the vet. My yorkie is around 7 pounds and my spaniel is around 12 or 13. he is rather small. I am not so sure I want to be part of a community that can be so judgemental and nasty. :( |
your cocker spaniel is still way to big for her & you said your gonna breed them again you will be sorry when you have no more yorkie & then everyone wont sound so "judgemental and nasty" if your gonna breed mixed breeds at least do it a safe way |

Actually... my post was worded in a question like manner. Hence the question marks ???? I have no right to judge you (thats not what Im here for), but I however DO have the right to ask questions. This is a public forum and quite frankly your not always going to get "cookie cutter" answers. A little taken back that you would find what I ASKED offensive... and really all I have to say for that is "get over it/yourself". Its the real world and your gonna get real questions/answers - sorry :aimeeyork |
I understand it was an accident, and you've stated your having your male neutered, so I don't think you meant you were going to breed the two of them again. I'd listen to my vet, and maybe take her in when she goes into labor incase she needs a c-section. Good luck. |
I think you and your vet have everything under control. I see it was an accident and you are taking care of the problem. Good luck and I hope she does well. Angel & :aimeeyork Muffy Mutt |
People really need to take a chill pill and get off their soap boxes. I'm just curious, are people not allowed to make mistakes? The poor girl didn't know it had happened, get over it. She said the vet knows so the vet obviously knows the sizes of both dogs and knows she'll most likely be okay so what position is anyone else in to say this and that? She also said she'd breed her Yorkie later on but the cocker spaniel was getting fixed so she's obviously not breeding them together again. Therefore, if you're going to try and be Miss I know everything, at least read what you're replying to so you don't make yourself look stupid. To the original poster though, good luck!:p |
I wish I was close enough to get one lol !!!!!! Muffy need a playmate but daddy hasnt give in yet.. |

to the original poster im going to wish your little girl lots of luck |
Oh my. There's no way on earth I would risk my precious Yorkies life carrying those type of pups. I know that you said your Vet says it's ok and he is going to watch her...BUT...Your Vet is not God - therefore, I would never take that chance - anything could happen...:( |

Good grief, what is wrong with you people? I stopped posting on this site because it makes me crazy how judgemental people are. There is no reason to jump down this woman's throat. Is that what a "community" does? How about a bit of support? It's too late to change what happened, so I think you should all keep your jmho's to yourself and be supportive. I hope all goes well, and you are doing the right thing working so closely with your vet. Good luck, and I'll be praying for a safe outcome! |

Ok, I am definitely not going to breed her with the cocker spaniel..EVER!! it was never my intention to begin with...he was fixed yesterday just to prevent this ever even having a chance to happen again. I am a very responsible pet owner, always have been, and you are right, i would be devestated if anything happens to my baby. I have bred her in the past and was verrry selective about the male that we used and was very careful that he was a smaller dog than her. I know yorkies can have problems with delivery so I was very careful. I was not even going to breed her this year because I do not believe in over breeding. I am scared to death about all this and have not had any sleep over worrying about her. The poor vet, thank goodness he is a good friend, has heard from me more than he probably ever wanted to. She is going to see him again today and whatever action is necessary to keep her safe will be taken. I am not thrilled about the puppies, but only because it could endanger her. Otherwise, I Love all animals, mixed or pure and will find them good homes, if we are lucky enough for them and my baby to survive this ordeal. It will break my heart if something happens to either of them. :( I appreciate all the prayers and support from all of you. Sorry if I seemed quick to back off from the community. |
I don't think anyone would blame you for wanting to leave. If somone started judging me for something that happened (for something that you stated was a mistake that happened while you were not home), I wouldn't want to be a part of somehting like that either. But I hope you do stay, because I know that the majority of us here would like to have you as a member and be updated on the mom and babies progress. Don't let a few member who were quick to judge (just because you say JMO dosen't mean someone won't still take offence to it), ruin it for the rest of us who are here to offer support, guidence, and understanding. |
Update on Cricketts Puppies I took Crickett to the vet yesterday evening and he said from what he can see on Ultrasound, there are going to be four babies..and they are small. She is due any day now..he says she is about 56 days. So we are on puppy watch. Taking her temp 3x per day and watching her closely. Will let you all know how it goes! Thanks for the support. :thumbs up |
Thanks for the update. I have been thinking about you for two days and was wondering how she was doing.. Still wish I could get one I bet they are going to be so adorable.. Let us know what happens. :aimeeyork Angel & Muffy :aimeeyork |
Glad to see you stuck around. This forum will be nice for you to come to during whelping for help and guidance. Don't take offense to negative posts, people are always going to voice their opinions whether we like it or not. There really are some nice and helpful people here so don't give up on us yet. :D Hope to hear updates of your girl and good luck with the whelp! |
I am glad I stuck around too..Everyone has been very sweet and encouraging!! I would love for anyone who wants one of my babies to have one!! I just so want them to go to good homes. It broke my heart when my last litter went! I have seen pictures of corkie's and they are adorable. I prefer the yorkie to any other breed and thankfully we won't have this situation again.( I am sure Oreo ( cocker spaniel) is not very happy with me but he will be fine. ) I am excited for her but also still a little scared. I will keep you all updated and post pics when they get here!! :animal36 |
im glad you did the right thing :D & im still praying for your little girl Please share pics when she has them !! |

I LOVE this site, but i had no idea people could be sooo nasty and judgemental! it makes me not want to be a part of this! GOOD LUCK with your corkies! i bet they will be cute! i wanna see pics! |
Prayer's coming Mommy's way that her welping goes perfectly and the babies get here safe and sound. Both dogs have sweet faces so those pups are going to be adorable. Main thing is Mom is ok. Keep us posted. Good luck, |
Glad to see you've returned :) and that your yorkie is doing well... Thanks for sharing the update and I really do hope that all goes well with the pups. Please keep us posted :D |
I'm glad your baby is okay so far! But please rearrange your schedule if you need to in order to be home for the delivery...unless you already scheduled a C. And have the number of an emergency vet available. ;) Female Yorkies should be bred with smaller pups, hence the reason some are worried. ;) We don't want the pups to get stuck in the birth canal and pass. Please keep us updated, though! |
Praying for your yorkie!! :) |
No puppies yet....I will be home with her for the next three days so maybe we will get lucky and she will decide to go this weekend....Will let you all know Monday. Thanks for all the support!! |
