South Florida Girls!!! What is the best food for your puppy?

Jo eats Innova dry puppy food and he loves it...I also mix 10 to 12 pieces with about a tablespoon of Wellness canned (chicken & sweet potato) puppy food for breakfast and dinner for him. Right now he eats the puppy food but his next bag will be adult food. Since I switched him to Innova his coat has become soft and shiney and his stools are compact with no smell. He's doing well on Innova so I'm sticken' with it.

I cook for my babies, Nina & Coby had really bad allergies. So I first switched to Solid Gold, It's pretty much like Innova, all natural and no by products, corn or chicken. As soon as I found out that the chicken and the corn were the cause of there allergies I started cooking for them, Meat, veggies and rice. They eat it in the morning and in the evening I give them a small amount of Solid Gold. Since I've changed there diet no more scratching.

This is also some info on the i/d from science diet.

When Mojo got sick and ate I/D he went crazy...he has extra love for canned foods but he could not even see me touch the can that he was already begging for some...so i guess that is why Matise gained weight...they just can't resist I totally understand with all the trouble you already went to why you don't want to risk the results you already got.

I was just curious since it is not only grains that can cause allergies and digestive problems, the meat protein source is also a problem (and not only because it is a by product), so it is all igredients in the food that we have to watch for

Thanks so much for your concern , I do wish that I could feed a non prescription diet to Matise. If he was a 20 lb. dog I don't think I would be so timid to change his diet to canidae or one of the others for coat and skin, but since he is so small there is not really a margin for error. I keep Matise with long hair so I would love to feed one so I wouldn't have to use topical products. Thanks for your thoughtful concern.

I totally understand...yorkies are very fragiles for that, their health can degenerate real fast...i wasn't even asking to suggest you feed canidae, which is a good food but dogs with very sensible stomachs may not do so good on, but there is a lot of options out there now in days, and of course there is a fresh food feeding. I donnou if it is just me but i like to always try new things (Mojo can tell you that much...) Just a curiosity i have...hehehe, when Mojo was on it, his poop was kinda soft and had a stronger smell..does the same happen to Matise?

tootsie rolls won;t ever be the same after that...hehehe Have you talked to the vet about giving Matise a supplement for the coat or he thinks it is too risky?

No I never have, but I would be willing to try something, right now I am going to try the glo-coat and some shampoo my sis said she uses on her show cockers. I still am the topical route.
