| Hi all you Alabamians. I'm in Gadsden, Alabama. I have an almost 4 month old male yorkie named Marley. He is so smart. He can already do sit, stay, down and roll over. Would love to stay in contact with all of you in Alabama! Maybe we could start a gift exchange. My e-mail address is fallingstar51@yahoo.com

| We didn't get to adopt our one year old, and our 12 week old was renamed Eve. SHe has some congentital problems and we suspect the place we got her and her morkie sister Jolene was a backyard breeder. We were pretty upset to find that Eve had worms, ear mites, and a luxatting platella. How upsetting!! We checked the better business bureau, the AKC, the genealogy and everything. The parents even had OFA certification. They knew that we were looking for a female that we could occasionally breed with our male yorkie Charlie, and I was just appalled with the condition of the poor pupy we got. Eve was 1 pound 8 ounces at nearly 13 weeks and just looked pitiful. We have contacted the breeder and can return her for our money back, but we don't want to send her back there. We are going to a specialist in orthopedics tomorrow and hoping that Eve is fine. It is awful because she really is a sweet dog and is just very loving. I hate the we are out of our money and now still have to find another puppy to raise in our family. What a horrible thing it is to breed without knowledge. Sorry about my rant I am just so extremely upset. |

| YT Addict | Sorry about the puppy. It is always good to do alot of homework when you are buying a puppy not just as a pet but planning to breed. When I started wanting to breed Maltese and Yorkies I read everything I could get my hands on and saw very fast that to breed one you needed to spend the money!! AKC with Many Champions is the only way to go, and even then you must look at that puppy, and parents very good. But there is always things that will come up in breeding, you will never make alot of money, trust me, and there will always be vet upsets. And the one thing that is so hard when looking for a puppy that you know you will breed is passing up on the one that is not breed quality, or that is in a bad home. But if you don't you will pay for it in the long end with a bad line. But I do have one question, you said when you got her she looked pitiful, did you get her over the net shipped in or did you see her be for you bought her?? It is always better to see the puppy 1st and the parents!! |

| I have done a lot of research and these people sent me genealogy and were OFA certified. We drove to Kansas to get the puppies to ensure that we could see the parents and living situation. When we got there the puppy was definitely underweight but otherwise seemed fine. She was just very scrawny and needed some nourishment. We decided we couldn't leave her, so we went ahead and bought her. After taking both to the the vet and paying for genetic testing and xrays we have found out that Eve has LP and is rated 2 on both knees. The vet was completely shocked to see it this advanced in such a young dog as was I. We have contacted the breeder and demanded that they get the parents rechecked to figure out which is carrying the genes. We were able to talk the people into letting us keep her to make sure she gets the proper care and they refunded our money. I feel so bad for the puppy. |

| I could not be happy!! I went to Florida to visit my parents and took Eve. My parents fell in love with her and have agreed to keep her! They are scheduling her surgery for next month and she should make a full recovery and never experience any pain for her LP! I am so happy that they love her so much!! She will have a great life and be taken wonderful care of. On a side note I think a gift exchange is an excellent idea. I would love to be part of it! |

| Can anyone recommend a good groomer in the Birmingham area? I have tried two different groomers. I prefer to stay while JoJo is being groomed and would like to be able to watch the grooming. I would like to find someone who is consistent. He was groomed today and each ear was cut differently. Since he has a very small face, the mistakes really show up. |

| YT Addict | How do you like him cut, puppy cut or do you keep him in long show hair. Would love to see pictures of him. I have found it very easy to cut mine my self. You do have to spend some money to get clippers and things but will come out saving money in the long run. I have learned if you want something done right , you have to do it yourself. Good luck. |

| Thanks for the input. Yes, you are exactly right. If you want something done right, do it yourself. JoJo just gets a "tidy" cut (eyes, ears, feet, bottom, etc.). Nothing is cut on his body or legs. I am paying $35 plus tip, so I'm sure it would not take too long to pay for the equipment. He is a little shy even though he has been around a lot of people at the grandchildren's sporting events. He is really clingy after being groomed even though everyone at the groomer seems to be very loving. Don't know if he will ever get comfortable with going to groomer or if Mama will either. Good news is Daddy didn't notice the difference in how his ears were trimmed. Whew! He wants his little boy to look just right (so do I). I need to post some pictures of our little buddy. All he is missing is a halo and sometimes a couple of horns. |
