Clicking around YT has been SOOOOOOOOOOO frustrating lately, that I find I'm spending less time here, which is such a bummer.

I couldn't figure out what was happening - I think I finally noticed that this "mpire" thing at the top has to re-load EVERY time I click to ANY other page, it is so time consuming. It causes terrible "drag" for the member.

I understand a need for advertising, I truly do - but this goes beyond most site's advertising (in my experience) when it starts to interfere w/ the ability to navigate the site.

Part of the reason I donate here is to hopefully help in keeping the advertising at an "acceptable" level - and I personally don't find this one acceptable bc it interferes with the very nature of clicking around the board.

Is it just my computer or something? I'm sorry for complaining, but I love it here - but I am not loving it here lately with the mpire stuff....at all.

Sorry if it's just me.... :confused: :confused:

There are posts about this in the suggestions section and off topic already.:) It is NOT just you and yes it is extremely annoying. If you go to off topic admin says how to make it go faster. You have to disable "flash".

I looked through there and couldn't find anything where it described what/how to disable....

I totally agree with you.
I remember deleting ads awhile ago using Flash but I can't remember
what I did!
I am about to just close this site because it is too frustrating to
continue this way.

I just installed AdBlock and the ads are now gone! Phew! I got here, directly from Mozilla Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865

I agree its getting on my nerves a bit, I understand that they need adds to run the site but this particular one is really annoying me.

Oh good! I'm not the only one. I LOVE this site. My family and I don't have a great deal of money so I am grateful I could come up with the amount of money to donate. I thought it was only right for me to do so. I am on here a lot. I know there has always been ads and they have never bothered me, but this is a little excessive. :( It's not fair to the ones that have done their part by donating. Since the ads I am on here less and less each day. It's just annoying. It was messing my computer up so bad that hubby had to show me what to download to even be able to get into YT. I'm not a complainer, usually I just go with the flow, but this has just gotten to be to much. Please admin do something about the ad. You have always made this site such a pleasant and relaxing way for me to spend my evening after my son goes to bed. :)

THANK GOODNESS! LOL! I headed right over to this section because I was JUST going to start a thread about this. I didn't know WHAT the heck was going on - but it was driving me totally nuts!! :eek: It seems like when I scroll down on a page, it "sticks" (meaning that it pauses and takes a while for it to scroll down) - like it was doing when we had all the underlined green words. I was just about to log off because I couldn't take it anymore, lol...but decided I better head over here first and ask if anyone else was experiencing it, and sure enough I am not the only one :p

:mad: Ok I downloaded the adblock but when I right click on the ad the only options I get are POWERED BY MPIRE and ABOUT ADOBE FLASH PLAYER 9...
Any ideas on how I can be rid of the ad? I went back and tried to load the adblock again but it said I already have it. This sucks......

Windsor's Mom, the same thing happened to me. Do you see a stop sign next to your address bar? Click on it. A list of things will come up at the bottom of your screen. Right click and block anything that says Widgetbucks.

Dan explained on a thread last night and as much as I know it takes alot of money to run this site, alot more than we contribute, this is driving me nuts so off to find it. Must be in off topic, if and when I find it, I will post the link here.

I love the ebay auction ads at the bottom of every page and I have ordered but mpire is the one causing the problem I'm sure because it has to reload with each page.

I uninstalled it, rebooted my puter and hooray it's gone. And I still get my ebay auctions.

I actually downloaded firefox and am using that cuz on internet explorer nothing was helping now it its great!

Ellie May, Thanks for the suggestion but I didn't have the stop sign. I finally went in and unistalled flash from my computer. Seems to be ok now. This has been horrible! I thought my computer had completely crashed at one point. I kept trying to find an ad blocker and downloaded several but none worked on that ad, blocked others but not that one. I'd almost come to terms that I wouldn't be able to visit on YT anymore. Surely we could sell space to another ad company that didn't effect the site in this manner??? Or maybe we need another "Donation Drive". I love this site and would hate to lose access to it, but that ad problem almost put me there.

I was wondering why it got so dang slow for me just today or yesterday! GRRR This really is frustrating. I am a "high-speed clicker" as I call myself, and I click on and off stuff very fast, and this is just super frustrating for me!!!!!!!!!!! Please, admin, help!! And I can't delete flash because I need it for other things, and I'm not willing to do that.

I just didn't want to completely uninstall Flash because there are times when it is functional and I want it (certain sites)...I hate this!!! Surely admin can find some other kind of ad to use & get rid of this one! I mean, if everyone is having this kind of problem & is making it where that ad doesn't pop up anyway, is it really doing them any good?

This morning I came on and it was slow again. Something was trying to come up so I went to disable it. It was Widget Bucks again. THey are sneaky.

I agree with you! I'm not deleting flash because there are MANY MANY times when I want it. I really do think this is craziness, and if it doesn't stop I definitely won't be on as much (yes, I'm still addicted) but it takes too dang long!!! I am not a patient person :eek:!!!!!

install and uninstall only takes a few seconds so I am keeping it uninstalled until I need it and install. I have only needed it once for a forward email with a game and I didn't care to look at it anyway. Many of you may have alot more uses maybe for flash player than I do.

I really like being on YT and most times I have quite a bit of patience but this has slowed it down so much and I have cable, I just can't imagine what dial up users are going through.

This site has grown so much that the work has to be gigantic and the cost involved to run it too.....don't know what the answer is but I'm happy with my uninstall while I am on YT.

I installed my flash player again to see something. My days on yt were not slow and right now mpire is loading really fast. Nights are much different and I thought it had something to do with the # of people on and maybe that is the case because nights give me the problem. Is that the same with anyone else??? I can deal with days having flash player and there are lots of good buys on that ad but nights I will uninstall.

chachi, can you take the block off easily?? Glad it's working for you.
