IMHO... I feel that pet forums are not the venue for selling puppies at all. I am sure that most everyone on here disagrees with me but I wanted to add my 2 cents. there is NO WAY to police the people selling dogs that I can see, Villettes right everyone can lie on the net. I think that it is best to do your homework first then start searching for your puppy. It is too easy to see a cute face and fall in love not knowing anything about the lineage and potential problems in the lines. I remember the days that few, if anybody sold puppies on these forums. There sure was a lot less fighting back then:rolleyes: ..... |

So..................... |
Hmmmm really? I swear I joined once when YT first started. There were very very few people on here at that time. Maybe I am wrong:confused: I thought it was for people to talk about their pets. I belonged to a former forum (closed now) back then and when we found out that it was run by a MILL:eek: we all deserted like rats deserting the sinking ship!! |
I don't mind that puppies are sold here by reputable breeders.. the breeders that post on here regularly and we all KNOW. If irks me when total strangers come on here expecting us to be like "Ooooooh wow you have a TEACUP?! OMG! Let me throw my hard earned money at you!!" I'd love to own a yorkie from one of our YT breeders though.. it would be like getting a dog from family or friends! |
I havent been a member that long but i sure agree with you all coming here just to post puppies for sale is so wronggggggg. I come here to ask questions and talk with you all who are so great. I have gotten lots of useful info from lots of members here i would hate that it would be used just for puppy sales that is just not right.....:aimeeyork |

People looking for pet puppies find me via my website, at dog shows, references from my Vet or other pet buyers, or my pet grooming clients. I seldom have anything available for sale anyway as I do not ever make a living selling puppies or dogs, I work as a mobile dog groomer, self employed. |

Just curious, who is administration? I've only been a member 3 months and I guess I never really knew.. I certainly didn't think this forum was built to sell puppies tho.. I thought it was for people becoming friends and helping each other with questions and answers and caring and for the betterment of the breed. |

I support the idea of members having to have a certain # of posts before listing them for sale  |
I dont think there is anything wrong with members offering their puppies on here for sale. Really just depends on the member, dont you think? It would be very difficult for administration to police every for sale post without discriminating against new members or old members. I think the members themselves do quite a bit of weeding the garden for themselves!.............lol. I am a yorkie breeder and I may not be the ideal breeder in everyones eyes, but Im honest. And I certainly do not use this forum as an avenue to sell my puppies! I have been here for quite awhile, I post here and I have never changed my name or been banned. All Im trying to say is.........there are people on here who frequent this forum often. They care about their dogs and reputation and if they offer you a puppy, they stand behind that puppy. You are being offered a puppy by someone most likely you can trust. They have thought about it and Visiting this forum is a way of life for them, not for selling puppies, but for education, and yorkie friend companionship. Buyers should be informed when purchasing a puppy, whether yorkie or not. I dont have time to read every post here, but the ones I do get a chance to read.............it looks like other members step up and police the for sale threads themselves................by the time its over, the poster either proves themselves as reputable or decides to leave because they dont feel comfortable, or they cant cut the mustard. Maybe closing the for sale thread is the answer, or maybe you have to have so many posts before you can post a for sale thread is the answer.........or maybe just leaving things the way they are is the answer. Is there YT members who have been burnt by purchasing a puppy from other proven members? |
I myself? I would LOVE LOVE LOVE a YT member to purchase one of my puppies. It would be the closest I could get to having a friend or family member purchasing and could watch him or her grow here on YT :) |
What I'm getting from this thread is lately there have been too many questionable people coming here and selling puppies with no history behind them here - What kind of breeder doesn't seem to be the issue - it's someone coming here with ZERO posts and the first one is a for sale ad.....I haven't heard anyone complain too much about the people who have Ads that have actually posted and become part of this site. I know there are those that don't LIKE seeing puppies sold on this site - but I doubt that's going to change.....and I'm not pointing fingers at any ONE post or Ad ...but the feeling I'm getting is YT people wish there were a better way to make sure all ads are legit ...and the puppies being sold are legit. |
