| Burn out!!!! Have any of you ever experienced what I'm going through -- as you can see -I have made about 2500 posts ---- so, I've been an active member and have been around for a while. My problem is that anymore when I get on YT - it just seems like the same old topics are being discussed over and over and over again. I have read thousands of posts on potty training, crate training, puppy pad training, eating poop, puppymills, how much is my puppy going to weigh? - how often do you bathe your pup? - my groomer butchered my dog! - should I get another dog - etc. etc. etc. etc. I have actually reached the point that I don't want to answer a lot of posts because I have answered the same ones dozens of times and a lot of the rest of you have also. Sometimes I wonder - instead of asking the same old questions over and over again - why people don't just run a search. There is so much good information already here - tons of it.... and, believe me, my heart was much more into answering some of these questions the first many times I did it. Now - I'm beginning to think - I just don't want to go through all that again!....so, I'm becoming more and more reluctant to post answers to things. (I don't know about the rest of you - but I have always taken time and given a lot of consideration to whatever I have posted....and have spent a lot of time on some things that I have replied to.) Is it just me - am I the only (old timer) that is beginning to feel "burnt out?" If you're new to YT -- you probably only share the enthusiasm that I had for a long time. So, I am really addressing those of you who have been here a long time and have posted "thousands" of posts. Thanks - Carol Jean |

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | I've been around for a while too - and I agree with you. I do try to post on a lot of threads, because I like to make the newbies feel welcomed. But I do get the "burnt out" feeling when I'm looking through the posts and they're all the same question. I understand that sometimes people can be in a rush when they post - so I don't mind it if it's in a case like that. But what bothers me is when I see a post "How much will my yorkie weigh?" and then 2 threads down there's a thread asking the exact same question. I know that lots of people are going to say "just skip it." and that's TRUE. but you can only skip for so long before you get to the end! It seems like lately there haven't been many just "fun" posts. What I mean by that is there haven't been any games or "post a picture of yourself" threads or anything like that. It's all just been yorkies. and all the same exact questions. At first -I was like "OK. This is good. It means we can educate people." But YT has SO MUCH information on it. and it's not like the search option is hidden or anything. I'm sorry for the novel. I just wanted to add my $.2.

I myself dont have a problem with seeing the same questions being asked and love helping people who are new to yorkies or dogs in general. Sometimes I dont want to answer something I just answered the day before but if that happens I just look at a different thread. I myself have been on different forums for years and posted 1000's upon 1000's of times...most times are repeats of the same topic but I really honestly dont get sick of it...as most of the forums I am apart of are my passion such as doll collecting. I also like to have my questioned answered personally..even though they may have been asked before..it makes me feel apart of this great forum. I am positive I could search ALL of my questions but what in the heck would be the fun in that????? I do take a break from the forums from time to time though...but within a couple of days I am dying to get back on and read the same ol' topics lol... Dawn | |

| I would have to say that I just wish I had more time to respond to each and every thread. Many of the newcomers aren't even aware of the "search" feature and have the questions that we all had at one time. I don't mind at all, seeing the same type threads. Many times, they serve as a good refresher course!

| I can understand feeling burnt out, and sometimes frustrated. As a new-ish member, I bet one of the biggest problems is that we all learn how to navigate the boards differently - and while some may use the "New Posts" button, some may only look at certain forums - and then initially I didn't know it was so easy to search... One other thing, though, is that often there is new information - for instance, I just got a pup about 7 months ago and never had one before - I came to the forum armed already with information from books and my local breeder - and sometimes it won't just be the same old answers - especially to the health questions - Also, I agree with above - sometime it just feels better to post about it and get real time feedback and reassurance - that's something you can't just search for -- but I can TOTALLY understand how you feel - and I'm grateful that you stick around - people who have had more time with Yorkies, and watching all the different stories unfold around here are a priceless asset!! sorry for the blabbery post ;-) |

| I know how you feel about losing some of the enthusiasm to post your answers to the same questions over and over but that is one of the reasons why having so many new members is a good thing. Let them take over for a while. Whenever this comes up it always makes me wonder what else we would talk about. There are only so many topics to discuss about dogs. Rarely do I see a thread that has never been brought up before. If only posting about topics that couldn't be found with the search feature was allowed, wouldn't we be done?

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I'm must be sick in the head cause even after all my posts (and not just on this site) I'm NOT burned out - I've been online now for over 3 years and while I don't start alot of threads or take as many pictures as I used to ...I still enjoy it. I try to answer what posts I can - and have probably made over 400 avatars in the last few years - and I STILL LOVE looking at cute yorkie faces ! lol - I used to try to post to all the pictures uploaded but gave up on that ...but I do try to read all I can ... The only thing I really can say I don't like is seeing someone who went out and bought a tiny tiny yorkie ON THE NET.....with no clue how to take care of him/her. That and the sentence ....."I just had my 6 week old shipped to me and he/she is very sick" ......NEED I say more here ?? (I ALWAYS feel worse for the dogs than the human) The other thing that bothers me is seeing how many people are breeding now that have no business breeding - i mean the ones selling for upwards of 2 grand and advertising TEACUP yorkies - or those greedy websites that ship puppy after puppy. The internet opened up for so many scammers and unethical breeders - i just hate seeing so many people taken advantage of. It seems like every day more and more people are being sold SICK yorkies and that is ALL due to bad breeders and the worst part is .....it's the DOGS that are Suffering....We feel the heartache - but it's the dogs that FEEL THE PAIN. Other than that ...Nope I'm not burned out but I should be ! |

| I'm not an 'old timer' per say......but I don't mind repetitive posts. I bet you that every possible topic about Yorkies has been discussed atleast twice Having said that, if no one asked these questions..........the forum would be dead I myself love posting, wherever I can. When I have no clue or no advice to give...........I move right along. I have only created about 2 post topics and the rest I have answered or contributed my humble opinion to. My advice? It might help to not open the 'repetivive question threads', move right along and/or take some time off from YT. I have done so myself and when I come back I sit back for hours to enjoy the pictures and posts This is my humble opinion of course Jess

I don't post as much lately either, but I try to read as many as I can. Yes, the repetition gets boring, but there have been lots of posts that I missed the first time and am glad someone posted it again. The most irritating thing for me [after the "What did you pay for your Yorkie" ones] are the posts asking for help and after lots of good advice is given, they never post to follow up and we are forever wondering what in the world happened to the baby!!! Thanks, V, you always have good answers!!!

Nothing like a good "burn out" message to make the newbies feel welcome...thanks so much. If you don't want to answer, then don't. Usually you can tell by the subject line what's going on, so just skip it if you can't be bothered. I personally am very thankful for those who don't mind to lend a post or two to help us rookies out. You guys are great.

| Aww Amyd, I don't think they're saying that they don't want to help the newbies out with their questions... What I took away from that is that some of the veteran YT-ers wish we had some more fresh topics to talk about. And I agree! In addition to the repetitive posts that we're never going to get away from it would be nice to have some fresh thoughts and ideas about subjects we don't talk about often.
