ok so we old timers should come up with new ideas for threads.. this could be a good thing... i have no ideas right now, its too early for me..anyone else? |
I can understand where you are coming from in your post. I'm not a "newbie" but you'd never know that by the number of posts I have...LOL! I do a ton of reading, I look at all the beautiful yorkie pictures, but I don't always post and have never been made to feel here that I had to post on each and every thread I view. I have used the search button when it was something in particular I was looking for but I do enjoy scrolling through the hundreds of pages here just looking at things discussed several months ago - searching that way for me, is a lot more interesting and fun (yes, it is the LONG way to go about searching for an answer or topic) but by doing it this way, I might just find something else of interest. I could start a new thread but I choose not to - but that's my choice to search before just starting a thread. A lot of the newcomers, as others have stated, are probably wanting an answer as soon as they can get one - especially if their furbaby is sick. I remember when I had my first yorkie, everytime she sneezed I called the vet! There was no forum or website like this over 18 years ago for me to go to for information (heck, I didn't even have a computer then!!) and I was a nervous wreck despite all the research I had done before getting her. So when I see repetitive posts over and over and over again, I think back to when I got my first yorkie and remember how I felt - then I either skip the post altogether, read it but don't reply, or offer any suggestions/advice based on my own experiences with yorkies. The one and only problem I have with some of the posters on this site are those that come on here with sick/injured/missing furbabies and then NEVER give us updates! The one piece of advice I would offer to any newcomer to this site is if you ask for help/advice with a sick puppy, please be courteous and thoughtful enough to come back and let us know what happened with your baby. Each and every single one of us is here for one reason, and one reason only - our absolute love and adoration for the yorkie breed. We love them all whether they reside at our home or yours so please, if you're gonna share your concerns, share the outcome - don't leave us "hanging". Okay, climbing down off my soapbox and going back to lurker mode :D Suzi |

Carol Jean:I still consider myself a new member here. I know what your talking about when it comes to the same posts being submitted.I do find myself not opening a lot posts lately based on the title. But, there are still some topics that are addressed that I find very informative such as in illnesses, the breeder forum & the posts on a lost yorkie always breaks my heart & I just have to follow it praying for a happy ending...I've found the new site 4womentalk a great alternative because it gives a little break from the talk about yorkie's. Maybe you could check it out also, I think you'll like it. :D |
hi suzi, morning to you too..... just had a cup of coffee, ready for my second. |

How's your weather? It's raining here..:rain: |
I think if people did just that....relied on the 'search' then one might as well not even join and do searches on 'google' or something. I think the whole idea of YorkieTalk is to do exactly what it's doing...to help owners answer questions on raising yorkies and to discuss all that's involved in being yorkie parents. As it's not rocket science (though some days it feels like it!!;)), there are only so many questions, so I think it's just a given that some questions are going to be repeated. I think that what's wonderful about places like this is that we get to choose what posts we respond to and what ones we don't. I only wish I had the energy to respond to all posts, but my energy is limited so I have to pick and choose. It sure is nice when people respond to your post...it feels nice to know that people are responding to what you have to say, and I think all members deserve that courtesy. Just my opinion. |

I, myself, am not here just for information, but for the friendship, too. I have "met" some wonderful people and been able to "talk" with them thru PM's. It's not just about the questions, it's about the support and love we have for the members, their families and, of course, their furbabies. When something happens, the troops rally, whether it's a tragedy or a celebration. Even with repeated questions, there is always the chance that a Newbie might have a little bit of new information to offer that was never discussed on here before. If I don't want to read it, I just skip it. No big deal. I really love this place and I am staying. I always wanted a huge family.:p Thank you, YT Sandy |
     that was so sweet |
Ditto that. I agree, too.:D |
