| That word document suggestion is a good one! I must admit though, I'm far too lazy to actually implement it. I usually write things on the fly here. I like that the editing is only limited to 5 minutes. I've been on other forums where posters go and change what they wrote way after the fact and then the truth of the matter gets lost depending on the situation. I think it maintains the integrity of the forum. |

| YT 1000 Club Member | I've noticed something that contributed to the/my confustion... OK, the time limit is 5 minutes, but... the "EDIT" tab at the bottom of the Reply Post remains visible longer than 5 minutes. IF it were to go away after the time had expired I probably wouldn't have attempted to edit. Maybe this could be coordinated ?

| The edit tab has always gone away within about 5 minutes here. But if you click on it before the time is up and start editing, then you may be too late to post... I don't use the mark forums read feature, so I have no idea on that one (but see admin fixed it). The 5 minute rule and the first few posts subject to moderator queue feature are really nice things that YT has in place. I think we've all had times whhere we've wanted to go back and edit posts hours later, but by that time a thread can be 20+ posts longer. It would change the meaning of things too much. Also, I don't like spam and I appreciate the moderation setting. A handful of my posts as a newbie were checked as well. While it was kinda irritating and confusing at the time, it's well worth it.

| YT 1000 Club Member | Ellie May, Thank you very much for your reply. Just knowing that someone else had gone through that, has prevented me from having a "complex"... well almost ![]() I think I must be the worlds worst about letting my brain get ahead of my fingers, when I'm Replying to a Post. I've been used to a much larger time period, frequently going back, and mainly punctuating for more clarity. Have a good Day ! ![]() S.W.

| Thor's Human Donating Member | I'm pretty bad about that too. For some reason, typos don't become visible to me until I've committed them to post. However, a lot of times things come up and what was really said gets disputed. It would be even more chaotic if people were allowed to change what their words well after the fact. A lot of older posts by people later proved to be lying would look very different.

| YT 1000 Club Member | QS, That's true, I suppose a limit is necessary, it's just that I'd like a little more time though, maybe 24hrs. I always (on other boards) try to go back, and read my post cold. And in doing that, frequently make slight corrections. But 5 minutes it is.

| I have also learned to use the preview feature. It has helped me catch my errors. I have a few posts that were made when I was not as clear headed as I should have been... I guess they will stay to "haunt" me lol

| YT 1000 Club Member | Remy, YES, preview on this site is critical ! I frequently add Links or Picks, and not knowing any more about computers than I do, I always preview to check if the Links actually take one somewhere useful. ![]() With the 5 minute rule, it just (IMHO) puts one under a lot of pressure to get it absolutely right the first time. I admit I've not posted on some Threads, given how complex that Post would have been.

| YT 1000 Club Member | I have another (somewhat) related question if you all don't mind... Down at the bottom of this Thread, there's a box Named "Posting Rules". I presume that applies to what I can do, and it's different for another ? I see "can" and "can not's", and, "on" and "off's". If something is "off", like the [IMG] Code, how doest one turn it on ?

I believe admin is the only one that can change those settings.
