Can we have a stronger rule against bashing in rescue forum?

In a perfect world, people would not need to rehome pets. There would be no shelters or rescues to address these situations because they would not be needed. Pet owners would be willing to do whatever was needed medcially, personally, financially to keep a pet for life. But this is the real world and where pets are given up because of change in lifestyle, even more sadly others are disguarded, abused, neglected, and even killed every single day. When someone comes to the YT community for assistance in finding a new home for their Yorkie and we as so called lovers of the breed should welcome them without judgment.

I totally agree with you!!! I think that "non-judgemental" attitude should be adopted in all YT forums. People do come to this site for help...I have learned so many things from YT, but I also hesitate to post sometimes due to the judgemental attitude of others. No one wants to be criticized when they are asking for help, unless it is just blatant abuse or neglect. Just my opinion....

While I agree that in a perfect world no one would ever rehome and I can understand those sentiments, we need to put the dogs first, especially in that forum.

Those who want to educate the public can use the other myriad of resources yorkietalk offers.

I totally agree. We know that many members here would never ever give their pups up. If they really feel the need to state that, then they can start a thread in the general forum asking "Who would never ever give up their pups?" Leave the rehoming section alone. If it hurts your feelings or makes you feel outraged, then save yourself the heartache and don't click on that specific forum.
I go there because I am not against taking another rehome, but I'm not feverishly searching for one either. If one happened to cross my path, then I would definitely consider it.
A rehomed pup to a loving home means the pup continues to have a wonderful life. Isn't that what it's really all about?

I haven't seen the thread before reading this one, but this seems like a very good suggestion to me.

My feeling is that even if someone has the most superficial, heartless motives behind re-homing their dog, the reality is, they've stated that they aren't able to give the dog the love and attention he deserves. Maybe the owners should be better people, but they've been honest that they aren't. Better that people recognize that they are not up to caring for a dog and find him a good home than stick him in the garage and neglect him, or drop him off at the HS so they are spared the guilt trip.

Of course, not all re-homes are for selfish reasons, I'm just saying even if they ARE, the focus should be on getting the dog into a better situation.

I agree with this also. I too think the "non-judgemental" attitude needs to carry forth into ALL forums. I am like you...afraid to post for fear of saying something incorrect. I've seen someone on here being bashed for not having knowledge simply because of their "post" count being low when in fact they could have a lot of knowledge, but a new member. Thanks to a few people that I PM regularly who are willing to answer my silly questions and not judge me along with a lot of "viewing" of threads and not "posting" I have learned tons and tons of valuable information on this site. Let's go back to the old rule of thumb... "If you don't have anything nice to say, than don't say anything at all".

Good point. I think its a shame that people are afraid to post questions, but apparently NOT afraid to be rude and insulting.

The rules that are stated in YT's rules and regulations apply to all sections. If someone is being treated inappropriately, report the post and we will look into the situation. If there are members breaking the rules, we'll take the appropriate action.
