| Buddy's hip stiffness and pain Buddy is 11+ years old; weighs 3/12. He likes to go for long walks but is showing signs of stiffness in hips. Some days he twists his back end to move his back legs, and I think he has serious bouts with hip pain. Has been to vet several times in past with solution. Does anyone have experience with pain medicines? (He cannot have aspirin!) |

| Buddy is difficult about his eating; I have tried several brands of glucosamine and have been unsuccessful in getting even one full dose into him. Will retry with "Nutrical w/ glocosamine" tomorrow am. Thanks. |

| Will go to Petsmart tomorrow; One note - in over 11 years I have not found ONE food Buddy likes to eat; feeding him has been a project (early experience - he passed out from lack of food when vet told me to "just wait him out, he will eat soon") I cooked for him for years; now have found specialty foods as PetSage that he will eat if I put each bite on my finger. I'm afraid I haven't tried hard enough to get glucosamine into him. I hope it's not too late. Thanks for your help and interest. |

| I am so very sorry that Buddy is having hip stiffness and pain. You might want to try some EMU oil. Not only is it GREAT for the coat it also has some natural anti-inflammatory qualities as well as healing qualities. EMU oil works as a "carrier" and will help the skin absorb other pain releiving products. Here is the web address of the company I buy from: |

| Buddy is precious, but he is a senior citizen. His joints hurt and if you don't mind feeding him with your finger, then don't stop. How are his teeth? I massage Charlie's back and hips; did the same for Sophie. Definitely don't let him go without food and he is so tiny, his weight would drop rapidly. He has the prettiest face, and sorry that his body is aching. Good luck, and it is okay to treat him with extra care. Warmly, Deborah

| I have an extremely picky eater as well, but now that I homecook, he usually eats really well...I cook enough food to last 3-4 weeks, and I bag it in 2 day portions. Have you tried giving your furbaby goat's milk yogurt or nonfat organic plain yogurt with little pieces of apple(peeled and no seeds, of course) or watermelon?? You might be able to give him glucosamine in powder form in the yogurt with fruit. Buddy is such a handsome little yorkie

| Buddy Thanks to all the wonderful people who took time to reply and to wish Buddy well. I finally got small doses of glucosamine (in Nutrical) into him - over his protests. I'm in the process of finding Emu oil and learning how to use it. Buddy is precious. My best to all of you and to your special furry friends. M. |
