I'm so sorry your baby has this problem! Rebel had the surgery 2 weeks ago on the back left leg and goes back in 4 weeks for the right one. He's 11 mos old and weighed 5lb 3 oz when I took him in for the surgery but weighs 4 lb 6 oz now

Ah, your poor little baby..I am sorry.

I just found out one of my rescues has grade 5 on both back legs. He never showed any pain so I was very surprised. At this time we are also going to take a wait and see position. It just doesn't seem fair.

Oh your precious little baby! I feel so bad for all of you. I don't know what I would do, that is a huge surgery for such a tiny baby. I hope she stays pain free and never needs it.

Cry wishing you the best!

sorry to hear about poor Cali ....

since he is not yet a year old, will they be able to operate?

Will the breeder stand by you and help financially?

How does that work when it is a genetic problem?
Good thoughts coming your way ...

After some research (and some good advice from a friend), I realized that Missing Link will not help Cali's LP (it's already at an advanced stage). So I'm looking at 3 different supplements that are very good and will help her but I'm not sure which one to buy. Any suggestions?

http://stores.wildaboutmeat.com/Cate...-+Joint+Health

1. CANINE JOINT MOBILITY - Wholistic Canine Complete Joint Mobility is an all-in-one organic, human-grade supplement that provides your pet with a complete array of vitamins, minerals, digestive enzymes and probiotics, essential fatty acids, and powerful antioxidants,in combination with our own unique joint mobility formula! High bioavailability is ensured by the use of Organic, Human-Grade Whole Food sources as opposed to artificial, synthetic ingredients.

2. DOG GONE PAIN - DGP joint formula for dogs supports healthy joint function, reduces inflammation and relieves pain to improve mobility in older dogs and dogs with injuries that limit mobility.
It also contains natural compounds that support gastrointestinal, immune and nervous system health. DGP combines a proprietary blend of native Australian edible herbs with compounds used in the medicinal traditions of European and other cultures in exact proportions, so that the sum of each compound beneficial properties is exceeded by synergy of the complete formula.

3. RUN FREE SUPER POTENT JOINT SUPPLEMENT - The combination of glucosamine & shark cartilage will aid in repairing and rebuilding damaged joints while the addition of flaxseed (a powerful anti-inflammatory), Ester C, & MSM will decrease inflammation and pain and allow healing to occur.

Hi jen, i just pm'd you about these 3 appears to be a step up from 1, and i'm not too sure if 2 is a daily supplement or an as needed supplement. Also not sure if it can be combined with one of the others or if it would be too much. I"ll ask for you when i go to the store.

Girl thank you for the info!! I'm going to the store on Saturday!! It's only about an hours drive from me!! I'll even bring Cali (and maybe Tia and Codie) along for the ride!! Codie usually gets car sick, so I'll see how he's feeling that morning and if he's up to the drive. If he isn't up to it, then I'll leave him and Tia (so he doesn't get lonely by himself) home and just bring Cali Cupcake.

This website is very informative. There is a picture and it's exactly what Cali's legs look like. She is "bow-legged" because of the LP.

http://www.swiftwaterfarms.com/swift...laLuxation.htm

I talked to the vet again and we may have to have the surgery sooner rather than later. LP is degenerative and it will only get worse over time. She is rubbing away all of the cartilage by her knees and soon it will be bone on bone rubbing (and that will be extremely painful).

I'm taking Cali for a second opinion with a specialist in New Jersey. I don't want to make any mistakes. She's too tiny, we have to make sure everything is done right the first time. There's no room for error.

I'm sorry you're having to deal with this.

I noticed you said NJ.....would that be the Dr. where Kalina is? The reason I'm asking, is that is the Orthopaedic Surgeon I used. If I can answer anything just let me know.

Good Luck!
