| My Baby is limping....Help Hi all! I am new to the site and have just been skimming through the various forums and came across this one. This morning my 5 month old Sofie started limping on her lind leg. I have examined her leg and cannot find any swelling or open wounds nor does not yelp when I touch her so i am not sure if she is in pain or not. I was wondering if this is early sign of this luxating patellas that I have been reading about. Any feedback is greatly apprciated. Thank you |

| WELCOME WELCOME WELCOME!! are you able to feel her knee cap move?? (oh please keep in mind i know nothing about luxating pat. ) HOWEVER, i'd say about 4 months ago Layla would run and limp. she did it for about 3 days.. then it just stopped!!! but i remember feeling her knee caps to make sure i coudlnt' feel them slip around... and her's didn't.. i'd give it a bit... puppies play SO hard, and she could have pulled something, which i'm sure Layla did! just try (i know hard with a 5 month old) to keep her calm and still and see if it improves Can we see pictures??? |

| The same thing happened to Gracie at about the same age. In a few days she was back to normal. She either landed wrong and strained something or was having "growing pains". Our puppy school teacher said growing pains are not uncommon. If your baby is not better in a couple of days, I think a vet check would be in order.

| How do I check to see if her knee cap moved? I have felt around from her hips down to her paw and I can't feel anything. I am going to follow the advise and wait a few days and hopefully it's just a pulled/bruised muscle. Yes, I will post up some pictues. Thanks so much for the responses. I love this site! |

| Update....my baby is limping So I waited a while and took my puppy into the vet. Turns out she had a swolen back hind leg but her knees looked ok. I got some anti-inflamitory medication and all seems to be better. Thank you very much for the responses. |

| My Zada didn't even limp, and she had grade 3 in both knees. Wait a few days and see if it gets any better, because like marcerella said, it could just as easly be a pulled muscle. |

| When this happened to my boy, found out he'd broke a nail...and it was hanging. Have you checked nails? Just a thought here. |

| I'm glad to hear yours didn't limp either. Reagan had surgery on one of her legs a few months ago the next will be at the end of the year and anyway she never limped. Our regular vet said it was a grade 3 the vet that did the surgery never said what grade but asked if we ever saw her limping which I replied no to. I think he kinda seemed surprised. But she hasn't limped that I have seen with the other leg that hasn't had surgery yet either. I'm just glad to know that I'm not crazy and didn't just miss something.
