| choking... Mayla choked on a piece of dog treat. I dont' know if it is still in her throat or not. She seems to be breathing ok but I don't know if the dang thing went down or not. It was a piece of dried chicken breast wrapped around dried liver. I even cut it in half but she must have swallowed it whole. How can I tell if it's all the way down or not? She was freaking out - yipping like she was really hurt. All the other dogs were going crazy. She has settled down now and is on my lap, being much calmer than usual. |

| i totally understand your panic!!! sometimes when Layla chews a stick it gets jammed between her upper teeth.. she panics... i would try and give her something else to eat that she likes that will push it the rest of the way down.. clearly she isn't wheezing so it isn't in her airway, just maybe caught in her throat, however that said if it is REALLY stuck it just might sit on top of it.. can you massage her throat and try and get her to swallow a lot. maybe a bit of water in a dropper to moisten the treat and make it easier to get it down... can you turn her on her back and look down her throat with a flashlight?? i hope it clears out! |

I gave her a little bit of organic canola oil to see if that might aid in it going through. I did gently massage her neck when she was panicking. I think she is trying to throw up - sometimes they bite at the carpet when they want to throw up - like outside they will eat the grass. I took her outside but nothing happened. I'm worried sick about her cause it can seem ok but maybe block somewhere else.... | |

| Thanks everyone. We have all settled down here now. I've never heard such horrible yelping coming from a dog before! My poor baby. She seems to be ok - she's squeaking a toy right now. I am going to keep an an eagle's eye on her tonight to make sure it doesn't cause any blockage or anything. It is so scary when something happens to these little ones, isn't it? My stomach is totally upset. I realized how very much I love that little stinker. It brings tears to my eyes... Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it! |
