| Punky is sick =( My yorkie Punky was fine & being cute & hyper as ever last week when all of a sudden she threw up, then later she threw up again...this time it was bile. Later she threw up her food so I fasted her for 12 hours & made sure she had plenty of water. I was giving her Snookies as a treat & ceased immediately as it was the only change in her diet. She was fine! Very happy & hyper then this past weekend she was whining a lot but no throwing up. Well tonight she was on the chair with my husband & she threw up again, it was her food. I decided to put her to bed & laid with her for a while. I got up to get on the computer to research answers about what might be wrong & I heard her hack from her room & went in there. She vomited in her bed a mixture of food & bile. I decided to give her some IAMS lamb & rice formula & water...she seems to be doing fine for the moment. She is sleeping, but as soon as the vet opens tomorrow I am taking her. I even called the emergency pet line & paged the vet which I am sure she will get when she wakes up but just any advice or anything maybe someone has went through the same thing would be alot of help! Sorry its so long, I am so worried about my baby. |

Bella Boo & Diggy Too! Donating GS Member | Food I would get her off Iams as it's not said to be quality pet food anymore something about a buy out, and now its offered in grocery stores...Not sure maybe you can read up on reccomended foods on here. I would only give her chicken breast boiled and some rice for the next 24 hours. As for foods I have seen spoken of highly on here are Innova, Canidea, Evangers, Chicken Soup for the puppy lovers Soul, and many others. Please let us know how little Punky is doing.... Best of luck

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Poor baby - good luck at the vet and I agree with Diggy - and in the meantime you could try some boiled chicken and see if she keeps that down. Good luck |

| First off welcome to YT! I'm sorry it's under these sad circumstances. First, when they are sick and vomiting like that, the best thing to do is NOT feed them kibble. Let the stomach rest. Give her water and nutri-cal for about 12 hours then try some weak broth, then thin oatmeal, mashed potatoes or sweet potatoes, (plain) white rice cooked in broth and maybe add a little baby food strained beef. (just a little) Work your way up to a little soft scrambled egg white with cheese. If she continues vomiting I'd take her in for a check up. Take a stool sample with you for testing. Let us know how she does. |

| Doing better! I called the vet this morning, apparently yorkie's have a very sensitive tummy so she said throwing up sometimes is normal esp when changing dog food...which I shouldn't have in the first place. She was shaking bc her blood sugar was low & they told me to give her some Karo if it gets low like that again, not a lot just put a little on my finger. So I gave her half a teaspoon of pepto & shes doing wonderful! Very playful & happy all day! I haven't put her back on kibble yet but I didn't want to rock the boat...everything looks great though! Now I will introduce myself & my little one. My name is Brittney. I am 23 years ol d & a first time yorkie mommy! Punky is about 9 months old now & growing more & more beautiful everyday...I will include a pic or two as welll! Thanks for all the advice! |
