Ok, so I feel calmer now and know the people weren't lying. I asked for the copy of the registration that I've known they've had so I know for sure she is AKC registered. The original should be coming soon....
I also got a copy of the shot records but as I've mentioned, depending on what the vet thinks I might start over with the shots. Not sure if I've mentioned but she was also microchipped. The medicine she's been inhaling is called "Dimso". Anybody heard of that?
So, as a conclusion I feel a little better now knowing that these things did exist and they were not lying about it but they were rather slow in obtaining it and tried to cover that with a few white lies.

No coughing since this morning. I think the breathing treatments has helped her. I went and got all the paperwork and X-ray from the vet she was going to so I feel relieved swithcing to a more experienced one on Monday.

Is Gizmo as crazy as Baby is? Wanting to bite and play around and stomp around like she's a horse? LOL

He jumps like a rabbit and then runs around the room over and over. I've heard people on here call it the "zoomies". And he gets really fierce with his toys and shakes them like he's this big, mean hunter. It's pretty funny to watch!

Have you figured out how to look at the photo gallery yet? Also, did you find the thread in pictures where I posted Baby's photos? I also posted some new photos of Gizmo in the pictures section today.

I'm glad you have his records now. Take all of that to the vet with you tomorrow and he/she can help you decide what to do about the shots, etc...

I have no idea what that medication is...But I'm happy to hear Baby is progressing...and simply being a puppy...Best to you and hope Baby recovers completely!!!

Ok, so I just got back from the vet and I'm not too happy. Her coughing continued pretty strongly yesterday morning and this morning. It's always between 5-7AM, isn't that strange...

Anyway, so I drove all the way to the other side of town thinking this vet would be more helpful. I felt that he pretty much didn't say much more and all he was talking about was me spending more money doing the same damn tests the other vet allready did. I even brough the X-ray with me for him to see but he didn't think that X-ray was good enough and wanted to do his own for another $100. Grrr. And he said that I should get a "Nubilizer", carrying crate and then the medicine from him, if I don't want to take her in everyday for 2-3 weeks for breathing treatments. That's another coupel hundred dollars.
So he gave me some tablets to give her for two weeks before I have to go back for a recheck and another set of X-ray to check for improvments. He said he's not even sure if it is pneumonia based on the X-rays I had.

Pretty much, this visit felt useless and got me more upset than I was before. I really didn't feel like he cared at all. It is his clinic and the way he sounded I just saw $ signs in his eyes.

The people I got her from said they want me to take her back to them if it's going to mean more vet bills. I know a lot of people have suggested suing them in court but I just don't want to go that route and frankly I just don't have the energy to "fight". She is still hyper and eats well which is offocarse great. I am going to give her this new medicine, it's called "Orbax" and see how that goes. Hopefully she will continue being the crazy little Baby girl she has been.

This is such a frustrating situation. I guess it is at least preparing me for motherhood huh?!

Sorry I've been slow with responding. Been busy doing I don't know what. I took her to the vet though this morning and I don't feel much viser then before. I'm starting to loose faith in vets. :-(

I am sorry things are so frustrating for you right now. My heart goes out to you and Baby. Hopefully, someone else here knows more about puppies with pneumonia or coughing issues. It sounds like you are doing all of the right things.

Hey, I'm so sorry about your yorkie.
I know that your yorkie pretty much is going through the same thing that Zoie went through and is still going through, I talked to some people here in town and one woman told me that she has heard of another yorki ehaving the same exact thing as Zoie, and she was actually misdiagnosed.. Apparently it was actually valley fever. But by the time they realized it, the little yorkie had to have a $4,500 surgery.

So maybe you should see if what your little one is valley fever? The girl said that they can be mixed up very easily.

I have a nebulizer it is old but was only used for a week.

I skipped some of the thread, but what jumps out at me is the "breathing treatments" these people are giving a puppy could very well be their own nebulizer machine with their own medication for asthma or emphysema. Sounds very fishy; sorry if I missed something in the middle threads, but I hope puppy is not going back for any more breathing treatments.

The breathing treatment they gave her has actually made her coughing better. That man is supposely having heart surgery right now though so she can't even go for more sessions for a couple of weeks and I don't want to take her to THEM for it. It feels safer doing it myself at home and more convenient. I am giving her these pills the vet gave me yesterday named Orbax and I'm trying to find a nebulizer at this point and then the vet will prescribe me the med for it. I looked at how they were giving it to her and the set up was exactly what the vet instructed me to do. The medicine....well I'm not too sure if I trust that too much which is another reason I'd rather do it myself. They got the medicine from the breeder in Arkansa. Actually they were using their grandsons' old asthma machine. Is that bad?

U know what's sooo weird to me. How Baby follows my husbands EVERY SINGLE STEP. I mean when he goes to the restroom she finally makes some noise if the door is closed on her and she can't come it. LOL. She looooves the bathroom this crazy girl. It is so funny.

Hi! Gizmo is great! Thanks for asking. :) He does not like doors that are shut. He gets upset when he can't follow you places, so he tends to go into the bathroom with me as well. He loves the walkin shower. Too funny.

And...yea, I would not use old asthma meds that were prescribed for a person. I would get a new script for Baby.

Zoie had breathing treatments... the reason she had these was because her oxygen level was so low from all the gunk that was in her lungs, they were giving her more oxygen because she wasn't getting enough.. So I'm thinking thats what your little puppy is getting also. They made Zoie much better, her coughing got so much better.... They suggested I get a nebulizer, but I ended up getting a humidifier and put some home remedies in it which really helped a ton! but in the end it didn't go away, breathing treatments are NOT enough, they have been giving Zoie so much medicine that she started becoming immune to it, and they kept having to switch it... but nothing has been working on her.

The vet doesn't know their head from their ass, basically....

Oh wow, yeah that does worry me now....because Baby is sooo full of energy but that damn early morning cough makes me think she is running out of breath. I totally agree tha these vets seem stupid and don't know s**t! It's so frustrating. The one I went to yesterday didn't seem to care expept for dollar signs. I mean common, X-rays left and right and they still don't know. That's redicilous! I really don't want to do another X-ray at this point until something seem to change.
I just called the second vet I was taking her too and left a message in regads to the Valley Fever you mentioned. I want to see if he thinks that might be a possibility based on the blood work and X-ray he's done.

Does Zoie sneeze a lot??? Does the coughing go away during the day? Does it sound like she is conjested and is gasping for air?

Everything keeps adding up....:-( I'm not sure...I might try to borrow the asthma machine the "breeders" were using. I heard they might rent those out at medical centers too...hmmm.... The doctor said to the treatment for up 2-4 weeks. That's a looong time and a looot of medicine for a tiny dog to take it feels like. Did you ever give your dog Orbax?

Samantha...Orbax is a broad spectrum antibiotic to treat susceptible bacterial infections, I hope it works for Baby...but be sure to give the full dose, for the recommended length of time. Want to be sure she is completely healed, don't stop just because she's acting okay or is having a good day...finish the entire prescription.
Yes, you can rent nebulizers from home medical equipment centers...but check the price...it may be just as cheap to buy it...then you'll have it, just in case she ever needs it again. I don't know if the one the vet sells is any different then those sold/rented for people...I would probably buy the one from the vet...and get the meds there too, I know it's adding up to a whole lot of money...but you want Baby to have the best chance to beat this.

My vet also suggested a nebulizer, but I didnt want to pay the money.. She just said to get a humidifier and keep it next to Zoie 24/7, and also to do breathing treatments... put her in the bathroom for 15 mins with hot water running letting Zoie soak all that humidity up, and the you pat her chest to help her cough all that stuff up.

For me, that didnt do anything, I did it just like they said, but after a couple days she got worse, and she was barely breathing, and it was the weekend, and i didnt have the money to spend at a 24 vet. So I freaked out and got some vicks vapor rub, rubbed Zoie with it like crazy, and put it in the vaporizer, and then,i did some research and got tea tree oil and eucalyptus oil and put a few drops in the humidifier... and after 4 hours it worked like wonders. I took her to the vet that monday, they gave her more meds... and she got better, a few weeks later she started "THAT" cough again... and took her again, more x-rays and they said "oh, the virus isnt gone".. so more meds, oh wait, ooooppss they gave me the wrong meds for 1 week, so they had to give me new meds after a week.. and that is what she is on now but I know "THAT" cough and shes still coughing.. its worse when she plays and early in the morning.

Zoie will be going to a new vet on Monday, I will let you know as soon as I find out.

The great thing is that this rescue told me that whenever I feel that Im ready to take the kids back, I can... (within reason)..

As soon as she sounds like she is getting better the damn cough comes back, :-(. I just couldn't hold the tears back this morning and the more I look at her the more sad I get because she is just the cuuutest most innocent little thing and it's so sad to imagine that she might be suffering.

Yeah, it sure is. I've been to three and I'm not happy with any of them. It's lack of knowledge/experience or just having dollar signs on their mind. It's sad.

Poor baby! I am sorry you have to go through this. It's obvious that you love her and are doing the best you can to make her well. Baby is always in our prayers. Gizzy says hi.
