Hi Samantha, My computer seems to have some issues tonight, so I'm not sure if I will be online much longer. I will check in tomorrow morning. I want to leave you with these thoughts... First, please do NOT take Baby back tomorrow for a treatment or anything else. My gut feeling is that these people are puppy brokers for a puppy mill or mills. These types of people sound nice or who would buy from them? They are in it for the money and cannot be trusted. Who can say if they are doing what they say they are doing in terms of her treatment? I almost hate to say this, but I have heard of cases where the same puppy is sold over and over. You did say they have moved a lot right? What would keep them from leaving with your Baby and selling her again in a different town? Secondly, I would worry about infection. That's where she got sick in the first place isn't it? It would be easy for her to get re-infected or pick up something else since her immune system is compromised right now. Finally, I would take her to a new vet ASAP to be re-evaluated. I know it will cost you even more money, but I think it's important. Just have him/her check Baby over and make sure it's the right treatment for her. Maybe you can figure out a way to give her the breathing treatments yourself. Who knows? It doesn't hurt to ask. Tell the vet what you told us about the Clavamox. That concerns me. Who knows how long she's been on that now. Bottom line...please don't take her back to the sellers and please see a new vet ASAP. Keep us updated. Hugs! |

I have come to that conclusion also. They get the puppies from the breeder and sell it and make money on them here. The breeder seems to know way more about dogs than them. When they have issues or questions, they get on the phone with the breeder ASAP for questions. If I ask questions they say they will find out and call the breeder. I am still waiting for the damn s hot records that I have been nagging about for the longest. They really appear as though they are trying to help, but then again I am naive and trust people too much I guess. Because they have been respectful and almost always pick up the phone on me, I just can't be rude and treathful to them in regards to court etc. I really don't want to go that route. They keep offering me to get me another puppy. I made it clear to them today that I can't deal with the fact that they would put her to sleep if I even took her back to them- which I won't- and they said they wouldn't do that. I know they would if it cost them too much though, that was crystal clear from the conversation. I asked about the medicine and they were'nt sure what it was called but said it was an antiobiotic starting with A.... and something called Deo..... They weren't sure about the names but when asked how he got it, he said from the breeder who is familiar with this stuff; not a vet. Baby is only going to do this treatment for 1 or 2 more days and then they said she'll rest from it for a week. I will take her to a different vet this week and find out how I can give her the treatment myself at home because I definitley feel safer doing that. The reason I declined letting them have her for the whole week was because I was worried about her getting worse being around the other dog there who is also sick; that's why I drop her off and pick her up so she can be with me. They reassured me they will get her well. We'll see. I also agree and wish they would just offer to pay for the vet bills instead of trying to act like doctors and doing it at home. I don't know what to think. I know where they live and have their numbers, including their son's number so I don't think they will take off on me but the strange thing is that the thought has crossed my mind and that is another reason I didn't want to leave her with them for a week. But then again they are very welcoming and me and my husband have met several of their friends and family memebers while we've dropped by to drop off or pick up Baby. |

Thank you for caring. Yes, I really wish they could just take her or pay for vet services or at least go half on it but I'm in a situation where I don't have too many options either and am trying to take the help they are willing to give. I've taken her to two vet's several times and at this point I've decided to switch to a different animal hospital again and go to a different place as I don't feel like they know what they are doing at this place. It doesn't appear as though they have a lot of experience. If neccesary still after that I need to do the breathing treatment myself at home and most importantly I need to find out how severe this pneumonia is on her. The vet showed me the Xray but it obviously didn't tell me much except that it looked different from the right side. Hopefully I'll have more answers by the end of this week. She is running after my Pomeranian right now, skipping like crazy, she's soooo cute! :-) |

People like that are only in it for the money and don't care a bit about these dogs. I would't expect any papers from them either if they're coming up with all those BS excuses. I wish you all the best with your baby - but if they aren't getting the other puppies medical attention and are housing this many puppies - maybe a call to the ASPCA is in order. They can at least go check out the living conditions - make sure the puppies are getting medical attention and issue a citation to them if they aren't. ps - edited - PLEASE don't return her - they'll have her put to sleep. People like that don't want extra expenses and they will NOT get her medical attention. As far as her real breeder goes - don't count on them either - any breeder who sells to a broker obviously isn't a caring etihcal breeder |

I am going to do some research now on who to contact in Las Vegas, and I'll get back to you. Gizmo says "Hi" to you and Baby! |

Hun I think everytime you send your puppy back there you are exposing it to who knows what. They dont know enough about dogs to be treating them for anything. THey dont even know the names of the medications. Something that starts with A?????? Geez, what do they know about giving breathing treatments or anything else besides selling sick puppies and taking your money. That is what their job is and they dont know anything about the rest of it. When you dropped her off, did you see the rest of the dogs and how they lived or anything. That is just scary and if I were you I would cut my losses with them and run. |
Samantha...How's Baby? Praying that you get the help you need, and that she can get better. You've been given some very useful advise here...and I'm sure there is more to come...Keep the faith...love your Baby!!! Do not under any circumstances take her back there...they are not helping you or Baby. Report them to the proper authorities...They don't have to know it was you, so don't feel guilty...They do not care about anything but the money...remember that!!! Get Baby checked out by a reputable vet soon...I'm sure she requires additional treatment, who knows what she was exposed to over and over again. How old is your Baby? When did you get her? My Winston and I both hope Baby will get well soon...she deserves to be taken care of, so she can live the happy life that you want for her...Bless you and Baby. |
In Lucy's first week with me she developed a cough. I took her to the vet (same as my breeder uses) and they said she had kennel cough but that they would like to do an xray to make sure she didn't have pneumonia. Turned out she didn't but they called the breeder to let them know just in case and my breeder called my house before I got home to tell me he was paying the vet for the visit and xray so I would have a credit with them. Anyway, my point is that if she had had pneumonia they would have kept her until they felt safe to let her go home rather than sending her home with ABiotics. I hope your baby gets better soon. |
I smelled broker all over this one after you said they lived in Las Vegas and got different sized pups from Arkansas. Hon, I've never been guided in the wrong direction from folks on this site. I hope your baby gets better, and please, listen to the folks helping you here, they can tell you how to recoop some of your money at least. And how to get these folks selling sick dogs busted! Nobody deserves to get a sick pup! Thats just not "good business". You need to work fast, sometimes these folks can be here one day, and poof a week from now (probably gone to get another litter or 5). I'm sure you may have never heard of a broker. They buy many litters at a time, dirt cheap, usually from puppy mills, for a set price per litter, have them shipped whatever way they can (usually certainly not how you'd want your dog to travel) to them, then sell them for a fat profit. Many of the pups are sick before they get them, and those that weren't, got sick from being shipped with so many other sick puppies. Brokers usually have no clue on how to take care of sick puppies. All they see in $$$$ in their pockets. Thats why they constantly on the phone asking the breeder. I'm sure the breeder could care less, if they are puppy mills, and already have their $$'s for the litter. Sometimes, they get many puppies from different mills, and ship them in small cages, with all puppies piled on top of each other many miles across the country. If even one pup is sick, under those conditions, they all get sick. I know you love Baby, and will do what you have to to get her well. I hope you get what you deserve, a healthy baby, and most of what you spend on vet bills back. God bless you and good luck with this! |
Good Morning, How's Baby today? Do you have any other photos of her? Would love to see them. :) |

Thanks for that. As I've mentioned before I didn't know much about all of this before I decided to get my two puppies. One is a larger Pomeranian named Fuzzy and then offcoarse my Yorkie, Baby. Most of, if not all, of what you wrote is more likley true. I feel that it's my fault also for not doing my homework right. Actually I had read up on it and thought I was ready for it but once I got to the house and saw Baby I just got blinded and didn't care that the papers weren't there nor what my insticts said. Most the puppies looked sick to me and I told them that too but they said it was nap time and I ignored my instinct and just wanted this little girl who actually was one of the few that didn't look sick to me. Anyway, I'm in the situation now and have to deal with it. They haven't straight out offered to pay for vet bills but at the same time they are not just ignoring me and not answering my calls and listening to what I have to say either so I'm trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. I notice they lie her and there which makes me totally loose faith and respect but I guess they know they have messed up and can be in trouble and they are trying to fix it. I thought about them maybe taking off or something but feel that it would be so stupid of them. I have 2 addresses of theirs, one that I've been to many times and their cell phone number and their son's number. It just would be too stupid of them. Anyway, I know now the shot records exist, I did see it yesterday and am suppose to get a copy of it today so that's good at least. The most important thing is that Baby is doing great, thank God. She is a bad little girl that keeps biting on my other poor dog. She is so hyper it's crazy. She just makes me smile constantly with her cute little face, wiggling little tail and jumping legs! :-) I keep praying she will be completley fine and that the cough will dissapear forver. I am taking her to a different vet tomorrow for check up. It appears as though based on the research I've done on-line that she is in the stable phase of pneumonia. She is hyper and have a good appetite and that's great! Both the dogs have been sneezing a lot and the vet said it is just allergy to something and nothing to worry about but as I've mentioned, I don't trust that vet, and have to ask the other vet tomorrow. They both sneeze, a few times a day at least! Well this is getting to be a long post so let me finish before you fall asleep.:-) Once again, Baby is doing great right now and I hope that is the route it will continue going! :-) |

Samantha, I am so glad that Baby is doing better! I am very worried for you though. It sounds like they don't have any puppies left (that they can sell), so they might take off at any minute to get more puppies. I know you feel confident that they won't move, but you really never know. If Baby is doing so much better, I suggest you stop taking her to them for breathing treatments. Still keep trying to get the shot records if you've seen them, but you might want to forget about the AKC papers. Maybe someone on here knows more about this than I do, but I doubt that such a "breeder" or puppy miller will be able to provide those to your broker. About the shot records. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm not sure how much use they will be anyway if they were given (or documented) by the "breeder" rather than a vet. It's great to hear from you! :) I am very glad that you plan to see a new vet tomorrow! Great! Let us know how it goes. |

I personally would prefer having the shots done from the beginning from the vet unless it's not good for her so I want to show the vet the paper and see what he sais. She was microchipped when I got her and that was the true, :-). They have a fax of the registration but I just haven't care for getting the fax since I want the originall. Me and my husband have doubted the existence of the registration at time too but we'll see I guess. I made it clear it was important that she was registered if I was going to pay that much for her and the lady swore on the bible she is so we'll see. I mean as long as she is fine I'll get over the registration if that's what it comes to. I've learned my lesson to do my homework, that's for sure! |
Photos of Baby 1 Attachment(s) I am attaching one photo here and the rest on a new thread in the "photos" section. Baby is a really cute one! :) |
Oh Baby sweetie...you are a precious little thing!!! So glad she's starting to feel better, be sure to keep us updated as to what the new vet thinks...and how long she'll need treatment. Yes I would ask the vet if it would be ok to start over with her shots, even if she really did have them...I'd be a little leary...as to how true the shot record is...I certainly hope everything turns out fine for you and Baby, we've been very concerned, and worried for her and you also...Take care, give Baby an extra kiss today from me and Winston!!! |

A puppy with the hiccups is a funny thing to watch! The hiccups are a very common occurrence in younger dogs. They do not hurt the animal and will eventually subside. As puppies grow hiccup episodes happen less frequently, but occasionally an adult dog will also get the hiccups. When I Puppy gets the Hiccups we always say they are growing :) here is a little more info :) Hiccups in dogs, just as in people, are caused when a spasm of the muscular diaphragm creates a sudden inhalation followed by a closure of the glottis (a slender space separating the vocal cords). The triggering mechanism is poorly understood, and a number of events may be able to initiate the process. Diet is not known to be a cause, although there may be a connection for an individual pet. While hiccups can be a nuisance, they do not cause injury or disease and are self-limiting. In the next several months, your puppy will be growing and undergoing rapid physical changes that will, with luck, eliminate the hiccup problem very soon. |
