| Spay today - LOTS OF PAIN! HELP! My almost 6 month old girl was spayed today. They sent us home with Rimadyl and Torbutrol. I gave her both doses at 5:30pm EST. She is lying still with me but keeps crying and yelping. It is breaking my heart to hear her like this!!!!!!!! Is this normal? Should I call ER Vet? Help this heartbroken and guilt ridden momma! I don't want my baby to be suffering!!!! This is all my fault! |

| You might call an Emergency vet and see what they have to say. I dont think she should be in that much pain when shes on pain meds

| I would call the vet - crying and yelping after spaying is not normal. Usually they whine a little if you move them for a day or so, but nothing more than that, especially after you've given her pain meds. Good luck and let us know how you make out.

| It's NOT your fault, each pup reacts differently ... call a vet so you can have peace of mind ....

| You might put in a call to your vet like others suggested. My dog had a really bad reaction to Rimadyl, but it was more of a vomitting, lethargic type reaction.

| My Gracie stayed over night at the vet, under sedation, the first night after her spay. She was doing well when I brought her home the next day. It sounds to me like your baby is in too much pain. I would call the Vet.

| Update! I called the ER vet last nite and told them about the surgery and the 2 meds she had taken. They advised me not to give anything else, just let her be. Anything more and she could OD. They suggested if she was still in pain in the morning, to call her regular vet. She continued crying and whining for awhile (couple of hours) and was trying to lick her wound, so I put a Onesie on her (whoever came up with that idea is a lifesaver!). She slept in bed with us and didn't make a peep. She got up this morning and had her breakfast like usual and started to antogonize her brother. She is back to her usual self!! Her vet called me first thing this a.m. and said that she did seem to be experiencing more pain than others, but they were glad she seems to be back to normal. What a horrible day yesterday was - I'm so glad it's over and Ceiba is on the road to recovery! Thank you YT for keeping me sane!!!! |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | SO glad to hear she's better. I was feeling so terrible hearing of her pain - and then a nice, happy ending!
