Oh yeah, and Welcome to YorkieTalk!!! To start a new thread, you can go to where it says "Forums" on the top of the page. Click on that, and then click on the category that best fits what you're wanting to start a thread about. For this, you would put it into the Health & Diet section probably. So you would click on that, and then click on the left hand side of the page where it says "New thread" :) Hope this helps!! |

Here is a great website with info on seizures. http://www.canine-epilepsy-guardian-angels.com/ Make sure to remove as much gluten from the diet. Here is a link on YT about diet and seizures: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...hlight=allergy |
Sorry to hear about Merlin. Seizures are sooooo tough to deal with. If he is having liver issues and the seizures do not stop you may want to consider potassium bromide. this is a seizures medicine that is not metabolized by the liver. so it will not put any stress on the liver. Check out yahoo groups for a wealth of information on liver compromised dogs and congenital disease. Icky is 2 1/2 and when we adopted him in Jan 07 he was seizuring a lot. We now treat him for liver issues and also have him on potassium bromide for seizures. Since the treatment he has not had any granmal seizures. Please feel free to e mail me at psvidesigner@verizon.net if you need any more help or have questions on our own experience. I will you the best and good health for Merlin. |
Get well wishes to Merlin!!! And man I feel for you, my 3 year old male yorkie, Winston started having seizures when he was 2...as a matter of fact he had another today, and it's scary...but when it's done it's done, he seems fine...eats,drinks, poops, plays just like normal. I just don't know, yet, what causes his, I'm going to get him checked out though, for some reason his sugar drops during these seizures or his sugar drops first and causes the seizures, I'm not sure which. But I hope you are able to help Merlin now that you know what it is...Thoughts and prayers!!! |
