| Broken Foot.....sniff Hello All, I'm a newbie (a very sad one at that). One of our kitchen chairs tilted over this morning and landed on my poor baby's foot. I just got the call from the vet stating that all four metatarsals have been broken and are scattered in her foot. They put her under anesthesia and attempted as much as possible to put the bones back in place and has placed a splint on her foot. My vet is referring me to an ortho surgeon. Has anyone else gone through this? It goes without saying...how much I love her and of course I'd do anything necessary to get this fixes but I need to know if I'm going to have to take out a second mortgage on my home to pay for it, cuz it's already 1pm and the bank closes at 4. Any info would be greatly appreciate.

| So sorry that your fur baby is hurt...hope for a speedy recovery. As for the financial part, that would probably be best addressed with your vet and/or specialist that he refers you to. Sending well wishes your way. Tammy Last edited by TammyJM; 05-11-2007 at 09:31 AM. |

| I am soooooooooooo sorry to hear about your little one's poor wee foot! I do not have any experience with the $$$$ part of it but don't think you will need to take out a mortgage..........I'd use a credit card and then if it comes down to it.......get the second mortgage to pay off the credit card. I always get a zero balance on one of my credit cards just for such emergencies with my babies!!!! Hope all works out and the foot is okay with vet care!

| This baby was droped off at the shelter when she was only 3 months old and with three broken toes. I got her out and gave her to a friend. If the bones aren't set exactly right, and they heal like that, the the toes sit at an angle. This is Libby in her cast. she had to wear it for 3 or 4 weeks.....I forget exactly how long. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a3...s8-9-06003.jpg |

| My Baby's Doing Well Thank you everyone for your well wishes. Isis's foot was placed in a very stylish hot pink splint yesterday...good enough to hold her until Monday morning, when she goes in for her surgery. You would have thought she was born with that thing. It hasn't stopped her a bit. She hasn't had much of an appetite since the accident, but I was thinking maybe it was the after effects from the anesthesia. She also isn't sleeping too well, but that's also understandable. She isn't doing much whimpering like she's in pain, so I'm not sure if I should be giving her the pain medicine or not. The bottle says to give it to her as needed. I'll keep everyone posted. Thx again.
