| Teeth extraction surgery I took Lily to the vet this morning, they said they need to pull 8 teeth!. It seems like a pretty extensive surgery and recovery. I still have not scheduled the appointment...still trying to figure out where to come up with $400. Has anyone had this surgery? What should I expect and are there any questions I should ask the vet before I schedule? Thanks!

| Are you going to have her spayed? Most people do it all at the same time so they don't have to go under anesthesia twice. And yes, it is very common.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | When we had Ozzie neutered, they took two of his teeth out and cleaned all the rest at the same time. I think the same things that we do for ourselves applies here. We pureed his food for several days and gave him doggy ice cream in lieu of his daily bones for about a week. He seemed to bounce back from both pretty quickly. |

| Autumn had this done in the beg of April when I had her spayed. They needed to remove 10 teeth. They gave my pain med for her which she never needed. I brought her home and she went right over to my other dogs food bowl and started eating hard food. I felt the pain but she sure didnt. Your bill does seem a bit high. I had Autumn spayed, micro-chipped and the teeth pulled (meds incl as well) and my bill was $345. I would look into that first. Good luck to you!!!! |

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | In Oct. Jaxon had his teeth cleaned, 2 big ones pulled & alot of tiny teeny ones on top where he had 2 rows(he was extra vicious!!! LOL) We also had him microchipped at the same time. The total was 145.

| I am going to have Ninna neutered in June and I am hoping by then her second Entire Row of front top teeth may have fallen out... She is also double the vicious like Jaxon was and I thought that double top row was uncommon...

My vet says it is common in the yorkie's I know my last yorkie (Bandit)had it, but we did not remove them. We had a friend whose yorkie passed away when they cleaned her teeth -That was 18 years ago, Bandit passed away at 13 with collapsing trach & heart & breathing problems. The teeth didn't have anything to do with it. He was very healthy up to the last year. We laugh because my now 21 year old son said Jaxon's 2 rows of teeth made him extra vicious!!!!!!

| When she was spayed she was only 4 months old, so we were hoping they would fall out on their own. I think the bill is extremely high! It includes everything, anesthesia, antibiodics, pain meds...but still. $400?
