| Bellas Hospital Visit Today was Bellas hospital visit; she had her spay surgery done. I was wondering if anyone can offer any help with what to do when I bring her home in the next few hours...??? She is my first baby so I haven't ever gone through this before.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | That's great she's coming home soon....All I did was bring a blanket with me & carry them very gently... watch her closely and make sure she doesn't lick her stitches....Some people use little 'baby onesie' outfits but not all yorkies will try to mess with the stitches....just let her sleep and the vet will tell you about food and water.... ask for pain pills just in case...Cheri only used a couple but I was glad for them cause we sure don't like seeing them hurting. good luck |

| I hope everything goes well for Bella. I have a male so I'm not sure if girls are cared for differently. I just kept him quite as much as possible. He was up and running around the next day as if nothing happened. I am sure someone with a little girl can give you more info. Hugs to Bella. |

| BELLA IS HOME!!! I am so happy! She seems drugged and confused; I think it is the medicine used to put her to sleep during the operation. but I hate seeing her this way =(

| Autumn was just spayed in the beg of April. She was very sleepy the first day and I did not let her run up and down the stairs for a couple of days. Her stitches were internal so I just kept putting warm compresses on the area for 10 min at a time 3x a day. Good luck w/your baby! |

| When I had my first Yorkie spayed and my second neutered I used a little baby tee shirt (or onesie as someone suggested) just to keep the stiches covered up as best I could. I only did this for a couple days and neither dog really paid them any attention. My new guy is going in tomorrow morning for his neuter and I will pick him up Saturday morning. Mostly I will have to work on keeping him calm instead of wanting to play, but he is crate trained at least so he can hang out in there...Glad you girl is doing good. Kathy |

| Hold your left hand on her chest (right below her neck) in front of her legs while holding the bottom of her butt ( right where her tail is) to lift up & down. Also, I used Bitter Apple not on the stiches but around so she wouldn't lick. I did not want her to wear the clear plastic thing around her head. Don't get the stiches wet. I hope this helps you! |

| Just keep her as calm as possible once she comes out of the grogginess. And, if you are using any pain meds be careful... we gave them to Penny to assist with the pain but then she would think she was superwoman not a girl who'd just had surgery. After the meds wore off she was in intense pain again. Good luck with caring for your girl! I know she'll get extra kisses and love in the next few days!! |
