Have any of you experienced this before? They have had it for 2 days and it is just liquid... We have not fed them anything out of the ordinary. They have not gotten into anything either. Just want some advice if there is anything out there |

| Hamburger and rice Sometimes a diet of a mixture of hamburger and rice will clear it up. If there is blood in it, then it may be something more serious. |

| What are you feeding them -- are you sure they did not get any of the recalled foods? Have you tried calling the vet to get some phone advice? Sometimes they will give generalized info over the phone -- like what to do for diarrhea. These little ones can dehydrate and/or get hypoglycemic fast -- so keep a close eye! In the meantime -- read this site: http://www.wellvet.com/diarrheadog.html It has some excellent advice dogs with diarrhea. Most can be handled at home. I gave one of mine a little yogurt and pumpkin when she had a touch of diarrhea once.

| Only if you boil the hamburger to remove the grease. The big thing when they are already having GI problems is to minimize any fat. You don't want to move it along to pancreatitis.

| Hamburger and rice Yes, buy the leanest hamburger you can get and boil it/make sure to drain the grease. |

| My vet recommends putting them on a bland diet (no dog food) - either chicken/rice or hamburger/rice. A little yogurt may help also. If you start seeing lots of mucus and/or blood they may need antibiotics

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | usually i would tell people to fast them for 24 hours so they get most of the diarrhea out. Then start them on a bland diet of boiled chicken and rice, or hamburger and rice (no grease). the rice will help bind them up, and the chicken is a bland protein that shouldn't upset their stomach. you can continue on this until the diarrhea clears. Also you can give pedialyte if you think they are getting dehydrated from all the diarrhea. morgan and my foster chichi has diarrhea at the moment too. i wonder if its the change of seasons that's causing it. its very strange that it would just appear for no reason i can think of.

| Didn't one of them just have puppies? Could it be related to having new born puppies in the house?

| If diet changes don't make a quick difference, and you do want it to change quickly if the diarrhea is water like and frequent, you can also try Pepto Bismol, it is a safe and effective counter active for diarrhea and upset tummys in Yorkies, aznd most folks. We have used it by Vet rec. I understand funds are tight, if you have a good Vet and this continues dispite your efforts, you might call him and explain, and see if he may let you try a few days of Metronidazole. Its an anitbiotic that takes care of most bugs that NEED to be treated, that produces GI symptoms. Its also very cheap. Hope things turn around and everyone gets well quick! Sending Yorkie hugs your way!!
