| I took Louie to the vet today... Louie has not been himself lately. He doesn' want to eat and he is usually the biggest porkchop. I have been hand-feeding him chicken and he is eating some pumpkin mixed with yorgurt but he wont eat unless I hand it to him. He isnt drinking and goes and stands somewhere and just stands there forever. He doesnt come out of the cage in the morning when I open it to let him out. He just lays there. When I came home this morning to get him to take him to the vet he was upstairs in my closet in the dark laying on my shoes. He is usually so happy and active that I dont know what has gotten in to him. The vet did bloodwork and took xrays and they all came back okay and he isnt plugged up. He isnt throwing up and I havent seen him poop in a couple days but then again he hasnt eaten hardly anything either. He thought maybe he might have hurt his back a little and that is why he is acting this way. Does that sound reasonable? Does anyone else have any ideas? |

| If the blood work and stool sample are normal, then it might just be a bug. Keep a close eye on him, for any other signs, and don't force food as long as he is drinking. |

| He isnt drinking but the vet said he want too dehydrated. I gave him a warm bath last night and kinda kept spraying the water on his mouth so he would have to drink it so that might be why he isnt too dehydrated. The small back injury seems to make sense since he wont jump up on the couch or his favorite chair. He acts like he is going to but decides not to and just lays on the floor instead. Maybe he ate something outside like a bug or something. I am baffled. This guy is usually my little clown and now he just seems sad or sick. |

| If he was dehydrated, I would think he needs an i.v. to replace electrolytes? Obviously, he has hurt himself and knows better than to jump at the present moment. Hiding in a dark area is always a sign they don't feel good. My Sophie used to hide under the bed when she was ill.

| I hope Louie gets better for you soon. It worries us when our furbabies get sick and don't feel well. Please keep us informed about Louie.

| My husband picked Louie up from the vet and I just talked to him and he said Louie seems alot better. He was eating his dog food as we spoke. The fluids and the steroid shot must have him feeling alot better. I hope he keeps feeling okay after the shot wears off. |

Will watch the following thread to see an update how he is doing. It is so difficult when they don't feel good and can't tell us "Mommy, I hurt somewhere?". Take care

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Sure hope Louie is feeling better. There are so many things that can plague these little guys -- too many opportunities to give us gray hair worrying about them! |

| Thanks everyone! Louie is back to his sweet self again. The prednisone did the trick. He is back to being my Brazilian clown. Thanks for the good thoughts. It is scary when you can see they don't feel well and you can't figure out what is wrong with them and they cant tell you. |
