| Ear problems? Hi, Its been cold here still so I thought it was ok. We took my boys for a walk in the woods like 2 weeks ago. The next day I found a tick on each of them. Very tiny tick. I took tweezers and pulled it out made sure I got the head and then put alcohol on the site. My bigger guy I couldnt even find the bump the next day, but my little guy had a pretty big bump on the top of his head where the tick was. Well the bump went away and both of them seem fine. almost 2 weeks went by and this past saturday night, I was patting my little guy and everytime I touched his head area he would shrink away from my hand, then yelp when I touched him. I thought he might have an ear infection, but I realized it was both ears he was yelping with. He was holding them down and closed very close to his head. At first I thought it was swollen shut. Since it was midnight on saturday night I decided to see how he was the next day before doing anything like taking him to the vet. Oh and other than that, he was acting fine, eating, drinking, playing, alert, etc... The next day he seemed fine again ... he didnt yelp anymore and I was able to open his ears and see that they were not red, not swollen and did not smell like he had an infection. I am still watching him but he seems just fine now. I don't know what the symptoms of lyme disease are or anything and wondered if anyone has seen this before? Its 2 days later and he seems fine again, but I was just curious to know if anyone seen anything like this before after a tick bite. (they are on frontline now that I know ticks are out for the season again) Last edited by celstu1; 04-09-2007 at 12:02 PM. |

| Thank you! Thanks for the info! I am almost certain it was a deer tick that was on both of them! (it grosses me out to no end..ewww ticks!! ) Anyways, Dexter seems fine again... and no pain since that night... but it was very strange! I didnt know if it could relate to lyme disease, or possible ear infection without redness, swollenness or smell... I dont know.. I think I worry a tad bit too much about my little guys! |
