Reverse Sneezing Hi guys! Baylee has been dealing with the reverse sneezing for the past 2 days. It is not constant, but usually occurs after he runs or starts to play. How often do your little ones experience this? It usually goes away after I massage his throat. I've also read where you hold the nose and blow down the mouth...that makes him sneeze outward. I don't know...What do you suggest when he has been doing it like, 4 times a day over the past 2 days? Do you think it's from my cleaning this weekend? I'm confused... |
you aren't alone Spencer makes these noises after he has beening running through the house or outside, he also does it when he gets excited and when you play with him and sometimes if you make weird noises to him he gets excited and makes these noises :) |
Okay...I called Baylee's veterinarian, and he called me back (NICE!)...He fortunately heard Baylee making the noise and told me that he had tracheobronchitis. (to be explicit, not to gross you out, it sounds like he was trying to cough up a loogie (if I spelled it right), and as if he could not breath at the same time...his legs spread out, and he had to stop what he was doing-playing, running, etc.) I knew it was not the usual reverse sneeze, not only because of how often he did it, but because I had done EVERYTHING I was told to prevent this...rubbed his throat, taken him outside for fresh air, removed allergens in the house as best I could, etc... ...So, the Vet prescribed him 3 medications, but he combined 2. One is an antibiotic, and the other is a steroid/cough supressant combined. I had the medicine sent to me overnight, since I live 6 hours away from home, where Baylee sees the vet. So far, so good. I've only heard the noise twice. Retrospectively, Baylee did not start sounding like this until last Friday. I took him to daycare (for the first time) last week (on Monday and Thursday)----LIGHT-BULB! So....I've come to a conclusion-NO MORE DAYCARE! At least not at the place to which I had taken him. The antibiotics are for 7 days and the cough supressant is for the same amount of time (I think...). However, if Spencer is making this noise too often as normal, as Baylee was, you may want to have him evaluated. I just found a way around the office visit, because I have a great Vet. :D |
Wow! My dog just did this for the first time today. Emily is always really excited when she goes to the groomer. She absolutely loves her. Today we had to wait a minute when we arrived and of course Emily had to sniff everywhere on the floor and rug. Then she started doing this. The groomer told me what it was.:aimeeyork:aimeeyork:aimeeyork |

Hey Ya'll...yeah, I've read where it is common in small breed dogs...My breeder says that she has another yorkie that does the same thing. Awh...they're some interesting creatures. |
