| Licking surgery and got infected Everytime I turned around Adonis was licking where he got neutered. Well, it started turning red, from stitches on in. I called Paula last night and she said I needed one of those E-collars (looks like a lampshade) and some antibiodics. She said anitbiodics won't help cause he'll lick it back open, as the stitches disolve on their own. Waiting on a call back from the vets office to get antibiodics. I was waiting for the doors to open at Petsmart. They didn't have a small but medium fit him ok. I just had to use the tightest setting with medium. He's not a happy camper right now. Matter of fact, he's quite po'd. Looks like a clear lampshade. |

| Oh thats too bad I really hate those cones. when Chachi was neutered the Vet gave me a spray that tasted bad that you could put on the incision and it kept them from licking it

| I hope your baby feels better soon and his incision heals fast. Try the P.J's maybe that will keep him from licking. |

| You can also purchase Skinkid's onecy's (sp?) and cut a hole for their tail. Maybe cheaper than pj's and almost any drug store has them. They are made out of teeshirt material and have snaps at the bottom.

| I saw at one of the pet stores a blow up dougnut that goes around the neck. Looks like it would be much more comfortable than the lamp shade type. He will do fine now that he can't reach the "itch". Poor boy. |

| He was so pitiful with it on. Didn't even want to walk at all with it. But with what all I have going on right now, was no choice today. I took it off tonight, but only cause I can watch him. I dread putting it back on at bedtime. I know he hates me for this cause when he thought I was going to put it back on, he went under the bed. I did get the antibiodic today from vet. About to do 2ond dose shortly. I've seen worse pics of infections after neuters or spays here, so maybe I caught it in time. I'll be glad when the electrictiy has been finished running to the workshop, that way I can be inside and watch him. Maybe I can keep it off most of the time then. Meantime, he gives me this "your the meanest mommie in the world" look! Lord, sure glad I never had skin babies!! |

| He started licking again, and I put the e-collar back on. After checking the forum again, I decided to try the diaper that Venus wore only once. I was shocked when it fit. Is that a onesie? Well he's not real happy with that either but least feels like moving in it. Hope the diaper is ok. It does have a hole for the tail. And it looks a lot more comfortable than the e-collar. |

| He's been much better, and finally seemed to catch on to "if you lick, the e-collar goes back on". Still giving the antibiodics though. Paula said for him to take all of it. Thank God its a liquid. Looks like infection is gone, and he's been to his old self again! Sorry I didn't get back any sooner, lot going on around here with remodeling. I have barely had time to breathe, lol. |
