| OMG you guys! Truffles ate something she shouldn't have! You know those little packages that come in shoe boxes and things, that say "throw away, do not eat?" With those little clear balls in there? She got into one. She was acting a bit weird before bed - jumped off the bed for the first time! So I took her to her pee spot and she only drank water. She woke up a few minutes ago and threw up - that bile looking stuff. It is too early for me to know if she is acting funny though because she still likes to be lazy first thing in the morning. She was accepting her treats and sitting for mommy before bed last night and seemed normal. I am going to see if she is interested in some kind of food she loves and maybe call the vet and ask if they know what those things are or what they do? She just pooped and I saw one in her poop and thats how I know for sure! Do you guys know what those little balls are and if they are toxic??? (all that info for this one questions!!! Sorry!) Thank you!! Trina

| It's silica gel. I wouldn't wait a minute to take her to the vet. Things like that scare me to death. Let us know how it goes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silica_gel

| I agree, definitely get to your vet or call and tell them she ate that stuff. It is toxic, I just don't know how bad it is for dogs. |

| Found this: Non-toxic Substances for Dogs and Cats The following substances are considered to be non-toxic, although they may cause mild gastrointestinal upset in some animals: - Water-based paints - Toilet bowl water - Silica gel - Poinsettia - Cat litter - Glue traps - Glow jewelry http://www.meadowsprings.net/puppy_care.htm

| I just noticed they have glue traps listed there. Can you even imagine a yorkie caught in a glue trap? A long time ago I found a bird attached to one and I thought I'd never get him detached and the gunk off him!

I can say...Truffles is running all over the house and eating just fine? Not a weird or unusual symtom now! I know once in a while Vixxen will just throw up that bile looking stuff and yet she is fine, but combined with the fact that I noticed that little package torn open, and it was the first time I've seen Truffles "sick," I freaked out! I'm on the phone with her vet right now just to be safe.... thank you so much for such fast replies! I'll keep you posted!

| Well both vets I called referred me to the animal poison control number! So I figured I better call and be safe....for $55. But hey, my baby is worth it. The doctor says she believes there will be no systemic affect on her and that she propably vomited for some other reason. Just watch for more vomiting and diarhea.... Piece of mind I guess. Thanks everyone who posted so quickly! I think she's gonna be fine

| Did you see this on the other link to wikepedia? Alone, silica gel is non-toxic, non-flammable and chemically unreactive. However, some of the beads may be doped with a moisture indicator, such as cobalt (II) chloride, which is toxic and may be carcinogenic. Cobalt (II) chloride is deep blue when dry (anhydrous) and pink when moist (hydrated). This is the reason most silica gel packets are labeled as dangerous or poisonous when eaten. I would still check it out further. . . How much did he eat?

| Yikes! This particular package just said "silica gel, throw away, do not eat" but not poison or dangerous. But poison control doesn't seem too concerned. I will definately be watching her the next couple days and since I'm an "overly protective" mommy, don't worry, she will head straight to the vet if she's seems "funny!"
