Yorkie Crying and trying to bite his behind! My 8 week Baxter is crying and chasing his butt around, trying to bite/lick it. He had a bowel movement at 5am, then started doing this about 5:30 and at 9:30 i took him to the vet. Vet said his anal glands were fine, and it just might be a case of rectal inflammation due to his stool in the morning. He gave me Tritop topical ointment, and Rimadyl to try to alleviate the inflammation. So far Baxter is still at it. Its pretty excrutiaing to watch, and i feel rly bad that hes suffering. Anyone out there deal w/ this before?

Little Bit did that until they gave me a tube of Lax Aire. You give them just a little bit every couple of days. Also you might try giving him a little Nutrical a couple of times a day. Is he a small puppy? Little Bit was quite the drama queen. I think it was hurting her some because of hard stool but you would have sworn she was dying. Sometimes our really good food causes real compact firm stools and I think it just hurts them a little. Good luck & let us know how he does.

It sounds like an Anal Gland problem to me. My little Chattie had that problem when she was a young pup and she was pitiful.....

Problem Solved So its been a full day since Baxter was sick. He seems to be doing much better. I applied the topical ointment to his rectum and he forgot about his butt after about an hour. The Rimadyl made him a little hyper, so i dont think im gonna give it to him again. Put him on a softer food so i think hes doing much better w. it than his original dry kibble. As of this morning he isnt in pain anymore and playing just fine, Thank you everyone for your comments

| Poor baby! I'm glad he's getting some soothing ointment! Jen did the same thing except with her she had a chain poop... She ate a strand of my hair and the poop came out but the hair didn't make it all the way. She was freaked out over the dangling poop!
