| New momma acting strange? Lilly had two puppies 4 weeks ago. Only one made it. She had been doing great until yesterday. She woke me up in the middle of the night whinning... which she never does. When I took her out she vomited. Just a small amount of yellow stuff. She hasn't done it since. But, then this morning she has extremely soft stool. I am feeding her wet food mixed with dry and have been since she had the pup. How long does the wet food last in the fridge. Could it have gone bad. Today I am just going to feed her dry... but I am worried about the nursing pup as well since she still gets all her food from mom. Help!

| Well I'm no expert but you should probably leave dry food out all the time for her. I think the yellow stuff she threw up is just stomach bile and was from having an empty tummy. The wet food I don't feed anymore but when I did I only kept it for maybe two days in the fridge and threw out after that. A call to your vet may be in order if she continues with the soft stools. Best of luck with mom and the babies.

| That might be it. I have had it in there for a week. She just doesn't eat it that fast? I'm going to throw it out and stick to dry. I usually only feed them dry but since she needed to eat a little more it was the only way I could get her to increase her diet a little for the puppies. I hope that is all it is. She is acting completely normal besides those few incidences.

| i think nursing can upset their stomach. Give her some yogurt, I use store brand strawberry , it seems less sweet. Take a stool sample in to the vet to be sure there is no parasites. I know you said you werent doing wet anymore but did you put it ia a container w/a lid. I woulnt leave it in the can. Keep us posted. |

| Well, I think it was the food... because she is fine now That will be the last time I get wet food, unless it comes in smaller cans
