| dog eating poop I recently noticed one of my yorkies eating poop. Why would she do this? I feed a good quality food so she should be getting all the nutrition she needs. I've caught her doing this twice & scolded her. Is this harmful? |

| Solid Gold makes this stuff called SEP (stop eating poop) and I've been told it works wonders. You just sprinkle it on their food and the poop is bitter so they won't eat it. Good luck. |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | dogs eat poop for a couple reasons. the two popular ones being lack of nutrion and the other being 'cleanaholic' syndrome. If your positive your feeding a good diet then you can rule out the first one. The second one happens most refrequently with female dogs. Females like to keep a clean house so after they poop they will eat it to keep their area clean. Some females will even go as far as pooping in the neighbors yard so theirs stays clean. the only way to stop this is for your to take some action. You can go outside with her on a leash and after she potties and then goes to eat it give her a pop on the leash and tell her NO. there are also some things you can add to teh food or put on top of the food to get her to stop eating it. There is something called forbid that you can get from your vet. its tastless so you can add it to the food, but when it comes out the other end it tastes horrible so your dog won't want to eat it. Or you can go outside and top off her poop with a little tabacco sauce before she gets to it. when she eats it, she won't like the taste and that should prevent her from eating it again. you may have to do this a few times for her to get the picture that all poop tastes bad.
