| Doggie epilepsy? I'm sure I'm spelling it wrong but don't have time to spell check... Do any of you know of any Yorkies that have epilepsy? I think my Sprocket is he doesn't flop around or anything but he just stares away at something and then just loses control of his bowels ... I hope this makes sense.. very weird experience and scary. Please help if you can! Tonya

| When I was growing up, we had 5 yorkies. 2 of them would have seizures during thunderstorms. I myself have seizures, though they are not epilepsy. Yes, staring and losing control of bowels is a definate sign of a seizure. I would take him to the vet!! They seizures could get worse. How often does he have these? When did they start? Let us know how he's doing. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | When I lived at home we had a Sheltie who had epilepsy started at 2 years old and he would get this vaant stare in his eyes and run back and forth thru the house and then stop and lose control of his bowels. He would then be so exhausted and sleep. I would get your baby to the vet as soon as possible.

| Ok..update.. took him to the vet and he said that epilepsy is not uncommon and that it was probably from some kind of allergy since this is the first time it has happened. Turns out he had been given pineapple accidently and could have caused it. So we are just on the lookout and more careful about what he snatches up. He is just so darn fast that things start falling off the counter and he has it before it hits the floor! I was just so scared that I thought you all would be the best place to turn! Thank you and hopefully this never happens again.. Tonya

| I hope it was the pineapple, whew! Glad he's okay now Mine don't even really know about human food yet. I said YET I'm so lucky! I drop something on the floor and they don't even move toward it. It might be because I don't let anyone give them ANYTHING at all. If they do get a little tidbit of something, it's healthy for them, and it goes in their food bowl. Starr was spoiled and would beg and cry and snatch stuff if it was dropped and I did NOT want to go there again These little darlins ARE quick!

| Mine don't beg but he likes to sit anywhere I am and watch what I'm doing. He grabs anything that drops... like a sock or hair clip etc... kinda a game for him.. he loves fetch. My female could care less if a pork chop landed on her head she wouldn't touch it. The only thing I give them is cottage cheese in their bowl and beans and peas in their bowl and the add piece of popcorn..he,he.
