i hope everything is ok. let us know the outcome of the dr's visit |
could be an ear infection. |
I will keep you all posted. Her appt. is at 3:30 and its taking forever to get here. |
Aww, your baby is in my prayers. Please let us know something as soon as you get back from the vets. |
:( Vet visit The vet thinks she may have a liver shunt. She took a little bit of blood and got a urine sample. She will call with the results of the blood work in the morning. The urine showed no crystals. The stool sample was fine. She also has dry eye an eye drop was prescribed for that.Another med was prescribed Lactulose to keep amonia in her gut so it wont spread. And Clavaox.(antibiotic)Also a prescription diet. Shes treating her as if she does have a Liver Shunt. This poor little baby. We are heart broke. |

Does she constantly do the circling. Lex does it when he get excited and wants to go potty. I would actually have questioned maybe excitement, kenneling or even something nuro before I thought about shunt. This is JMO but vets worry be a bit with their big rush to run tests and medicate the poor things. |
My pom goes in circles all the time when she is excited or walking down the hall. Vet said she was just a highly excitable dog. I hope it is not liver shunt. |
Dogs she do this circling after she eats? Its important to get that lactolose in her if it is livershunt, you dont want the toxins backing up into her. If she does have LS I can give you some info on a yahoo group that has dogs with livershunt or MVD (multiple shunts in the liver which cannot be fixed by surgery but controled by diet) |

Gosh, I hope that your baby can be made well! At least your vet's not pussyfooting around, I like that:thumbup: I hate the "wait and see" attitude of some vets, and even human docs, I lost my precious Starr to a vet like that. Hang in there, and you know we're all praying for you and your baby:love: |
Yt is wonderful! Thank you all so much for the support helpful info and prayers. |
regarding your puppy I hope as well that your puppy is ok, i just wanted to let you know that my yorkie who is now 2.5 yrs old, has had a liver shunt surgery when he was only 6 months of age, and he is doing just fine. So the sooner you find out the better. I hope everything is going to be just fine, and i hope that your puppy doesnt have it, but its always better to check. |
Update! The doctor just called at 4:00 and the test revealed no Liver Shunt. She said to get a true reading my little one will have to fast for 12 hours.OMG! I take her in the morning.I will let you all know the results when they are in. I guess it could be saturday or monday before we know.I'm still keeping the "Faith" |
My prayers go out to you and your baby. It seems like somewhere else on this board a few months ago, somone else had one that would run in circles. I just can't remember what it was. If I try seach and find anything, I will post the link to it. Good luck. |
So your baby has to be fasting, yikes?!?! I hope that the tests reveal nothing wrong, and maybe the circle thing is just a quirk. |
update She fasted last night.Went this morning for her bloodwork. She did really well thank god! She has gained 2 ounces since yesterday.Thats great she needs every ounce she can get.We will know the results monday most likely. This will be a long weekend. |
Hang in there! I'm praying that there is no shunt and you just have a hyper little yorkie.:) |

She's gained?!?! That's awesome! That's usually a good sign in a puppy, right? Continued prayers for a good outcome:love: |
As long as I'm holding her she will lay down.As soon as she is on the floor she will spin only to the left side.If it turns out she doesn't have liver shunt I'm going to get her an xray .poor little baby trys to play. Is there any way infection could cause this? She has dry eye(her left eye) and a green discharge. She is on meds. She scratches her eyes and ears.Any suggestions and advice are so welcome. We are tore up and all to pieces just sick with worry. |
Hope everything goes well. Let us know the results:) |

i told the vets i thought it was an ear infection but after blood tests, and an xray they found nothing and as her ear didnt have a discharge or smell they thought it was a brain tumor but after nearly 3 months of her getting worse to the point where she couldnt walk the infection burst went in to her brain and flooded her lungs, it was coming out her nose, the vet said there was nothing left to do but pts. please get them to look at her ears, if no infection get them to do an xray and if you still think she may have an infection and shes not getting better get them to open her ears up. |
I am real surprised that LS was the first thing that came to mind, hmmm. i would be thinking maybe ears also, there is an area just inside the middle ear that is partly responsible for balance, and then I would ask about neurological problems, maybe something in the brain, thats what would have come to my mind, but I'm only a nurse...:) I do hope and pray that things are diagnosed quickly and recovery is speedy. We are sending hugs from Texas from Yogi, Dori, Bogus and Maggie Doodle. |
From the heart I'm so so sorry your annie had to be pts.Thats terrible!Just aweful!I will tell the doctor what you said and about your baby.A big hug to you and thank you for the advice. |
WOW! how do you check that part of the ear?Because she can be still to do her business and lay still in my lap its only when she stands she does the spinning and she has been scratching her ears.she has a green discharge in left eye which she has meds for.The doctor did a blood test not a fasting test the first time to see if she had liver shunt. The test came back negative. she wasnt satisfied and did the fasting test. We will know the results monday.I'm taking notes and not pussyfootin around with my baby and taking any chances. |
I hope that you get some answers very soon! There's no harm in a second opinion, I encourage you to do that. Prayers continuing for your little one:love: |
Spinny Winny My Bowgirl spins. Very high energy. If she doesnt spin She is sick. Cute as a button. Try to catch her. Good luck!! There are many other pointers to liver shunt but not so sure your girl has them. I sure hope not. :dogsm2: She maybe just very healthy. |
