My prayers go out to you as I know what you went through, I cannot sleep because my lil one is in the hospital and everytime I think the phone will ring with bad news. They told me its failing kidneys but I dont believe it, it looks like dehydration and I am hoping thats that. I had to pay 850 for a deposit to leave him there and the costs will be more, but how could I not he as well means the world to me. Good Luck, and God Bless

Mizzchellie that is wonderful news that boo is doing fine now. Prayers that she keep doing real well and that you will be blessed with many many wonderful years.

Kami, I am also praying for your little one, looks like you are keeping awake most of the night. I pray that you get good word when you talk with them and that all is going to be fine. I will watch closely for an update on him. I sure do hope you can get some sleep.

It really is sad that the ER facilities have the policy pay up front large amount before they will meet the needs of the dog. We have also found most vets are quite expensive, shouldn't be that way but they are. In our area it is the same thing a $500.00 deposit had to be paid before they will see ones dog at the Emergency Center, doesn't matter with the local one here, money comes first papers filled out, pay the money before they will touch your dog I wouldn't be surprised if that fee is more now cause that was their policy years back when we had to take our Dobie in to ER.

Hi everyone. i am sad to hear the stories on the posting and pray for ALL the little dogs to get healthy as soon as possible. i can say that i understand how they feel....

here is my story:

i got my little girl last thursday and she was so alert and playful following me around where ever i go and so friendly towards other people. than yesterday, i brought my lil boo home from my bf's house last night around 9 pm and she seemed fine. i gave her a shower and blow dried her and let her sleep with me in the blanket. she was shivering for a bit i thought maybe she was cold from the shower. i turned the heater on and put her in the blankets and the shivering resided. for some reason she seemed a bit tired and not as active as she usually is. i gave her some nutri cal and i put her down in her den after a few hours of sleep and she seem fine and checked on her at 8 am and she seem fine but not as active as before still. checked on her at around 10 because i heard scratching noises and thought maybe she pooped. when i saw her she was lying there limp! i seriously thought i was going to get a heart attack because i couldn't breath! i tried giving her nutri cal and she tried so hard to lick it and i try to feed her but she was so out of it she fell on her plate. i picked her up and i know she is trying hard to respond but she just couldnt. she can barely keep her lil eyes open. i was so scared and rushed her to the pet hospital. they wanted $500 deposit before starting anything on her! that really pissed me off! i was so in a rush i was in my pjs and i left my wallet at home. i begged them to start treatment immediately but they said they cant until the deposit but luckily my mom was home and called and asked her for the credit card #. that was the dummest policy! a little life can be lost because of money? shouldnt every second count in an emergency? i know if i was a vet id start treatment immediately even if i got to pay out of my pocket to save a life! they put her on iv fluids and said she had hypoglycemia. within 5 hours she was finally more alert and doctor said she ate a bowl of food! poor little girl had to get her iv through the vein on her neck cause they couldnt find one on her tiny legs. doctor told me later they did stool specimen and she might have worms and that might have triggered her hypoglycemia. even though they refused treatment for my lil girl until i put the deposit i was still thankful for what they did for my Boo. i am pretty sure she got the worms when she was at the pet store because i am pretty sure my other dogs dont have them and she had no contact with my other dogs due to her tiny size. doctor said she okay and i might be able take her home in the morning tomorrow. breeder told me feed her twice a day but from now on im leaving her food out 24/7! please, pray for her to have a healthy normal life. she means the world to me.she is everything i wanted in a dog. that incident taught me a life lesson to appreciate life more and how fragile life is. how someone can be okay this minute and be sick the next...
I had a small yorkie that had hypoglycemia & had an similar episode. She also had a couple of other smaller incidents. It almost scared me to death. After that, I kept nutri-cal & gave her a small amount every morning. She loved it. She didn't have any other health problems & never had anymore problems. I just kept giving her a small amount daily & she had a long healthy life.

Default Boo is better

Boo seems to be doing well. she is jumping around and playing now. i give her nutri cal and karo syrup here and there everyday now and leave food out 24/7. she was having diarhea but not anymore after her meds.

i have another problem with her now. it seem as though she has a cold after coming back from the hospital. i dont know if that mucus sound is coming from her throat or nostrils but it happens frequently. she seems to be active though. and i just remembering the nurse telling me to take her back in if i notice any snifflings cause she might have a cold. how weird... before i brought her in emergency she didn't have that. did they notice she caught the cold at their hospital? dont know but i hope she is okay!.any advice anyone???

kami i hope your lil baby does better. he is in my prayers. dont give up hope. i believe positive thinking can change things.
i will keep everyone updates on boo.

Usually at 12 weeks they will be putting out enough sugar on their own, I always give them a bit of nutri-cal after they play hard, or before they get a shot, dew claws and tail done. I try to predict a stressful moment for the babies. Because I had one have an episode in the past, and I don't want it to happen again. OR not be prepared. It was very scary. I picked the baby up, put it under my coat, and a straight to the vet, and when I got in, I told them I needed a room and a vet...now! You know what I mean! Those are our baby's. Nutr-cal is always in the fridge now. Take care...justus

I know how you feel. This summer my Tippy was in the yard with my brother and they were playing football (the football is twice her size becasue TIPPY is a miniature). Unfortunately the football hit her and she fell on her side and layed their crying for 3 seconds. It was labor day so i couldnt get her to the vet....anyways....long story short...shes fine today and happy as usual...except for when we have candy or something sweet she goes crazy about it and attacks whoever is trying to get the candy LOL
