My friends dog had this surgery and he is fine today and completly normal.
Sending prayers that your son's dog has the same success

They sure don't - they said it could be degenerative and maybe he just moved wrong and ruptured the disks...they don't think he jumped because his little beds on the floor & the boys stay pretty much sleeping when they're at work - but who knows.

the part I didn't say was after the 1st vet visit - they came home & were watching him closely - (they didn't know at that time what was wrong) - at 3 am they noticed he had his head in a really awkward position - he was holding it straight up in the air with his nose pointed to the ceiling not moving it at all....at first they thought it was medication causing him to act funny ... but as they watched and talked to him they realized he couldn't MOVE His head at all -

I konw in an emergency the best thing to do is stay calm - but seeing that would have freaked me out.

I have to hand it to my son - he keeps his head way better than I do.

That's the main hurdle and what a BIG Relief. They said it was pretty bad but think the operation was a success - I just can't get over how fast it happened - Thanks so much for the postive thoughts... So far they're working !!

Oh V I am so glad he made it through. I will continue to pray he makes a complete recovery. I couldn't wait to get home and check this post. I am so happy it is good news.

I'm so happy that Barkley made it thru the surgery. Prayers for Barkley and your family going up right now. These little guys are loved so much and it just breaks my heart to think of any of our furbabies being in pain. However, 'tis the season for miracles and it sounds like your family will be getting one.

OMG Vilette! I just read this post!! I am so sorry to hear about Barkley's accident!! I am glad to hear he is doing better since the surgery..I just hate to hear things like this...just breaks my heart! Prayers going out for Barkley and his Daddy...To make you feel better, this happened to my friends mini daschaund..I guess these type dogs can have issues with their backs.. my friends dog jumped on of a wall in the back yard...he also had to have surgery...he is doing fine now...she just has to make sure he doesn't jump off of things...

Let us know his progress....

OMG I just saw this! I will say a TON of prayers for Barkley to make up for the ones I missed yesterday

I have to say from experience that these little weiner dogs are tough (my dad's Bailey sure make it through an ordeal)!

Please keep us updated

And send all of our thoughts to your son and his wife. Let him know we are all sending good thoughts to Barkley!

Thank you !! I know you know how I felt yesterday...omg what a helpless feeling it was. I'm waiting on a call now (I didn't want to call my son at 6am cause they had no sleep at all the night before) but I wish he would call already !! I'm going nuts not knowing how he did thru the night

Edited - HOW IS Bailey now ??? I sure do remember that ....Is he All better and no reprecussions ???
