| Most likely the elbows. Just a guess. If it's coming from them, you can ask your vet to manipulate the joint to see if that's exactly what it is. |

| Thanks for the advice. Is this a common things to have that comming from the front legs? I have only read about the back legs and the kneecaps sliding out of place. |

| I don't know that I'd say it's "common" in Yorkies, but yes, in small breeds it does occur. They can develop elbow dysplasia just like their larger breed cousins. |

| Oh wow, I'm glad I read this post. Last week, Tika's leg did this and the first time, I thought maybe I was just hearing things. Then a few days later, hubby and I both heard it and he said "what the hell was that!?!?" (it's funny, cuz hubby said he would never love a "little dog", but every little boo-boo or bump that she gets, he's there cuddling her - hahaha). Her leg hasn't done it since - but does anyone know if this goes away?

| Oliver started doing the exact thing at about that age! I was sooo worried it was a joint/ bone problem BUT we took him to get groomed, they cut his long nails... and the clicking stopped!! It was just his nails clicking together!

| bizzbeth, You know what? You're right. I just thought that these owners would know whether or not it was the nails. And they knew the noise wasn't their nails and that's why they were stumped. I shouldn't assume. |

My furkids Donating Member | When I pick up Sadie sometimes I will hear a little snap...she plays, runs, jumps just fine...I think next time I bring her to the vet I am going to ask about giving her glucosamine...

| you could ask your vet about luxating patillas (spelling?). It is very common in small breed dogs.

| I really am not sure that the nails are what is causing the noise we hear. It happens when we hold Parker sometimes and does feel as if it comes from the joint. So others have had this occur? |
