Eddie's limping :( I always thought Eddie was invincible with all the exercise he gets, but his left-rear leg pulled up lame after a run-in with a loose neighbor puppy today. He doesn't appear to be in any pain, but all I can think is LP. Ugh. My vet is in surgery today, but I'm going to drop him off first thing tomorrow. Anybody have any suggestions on what to do in the meantime? I'm thinking about giving him a warm bath. It was especially cold out today, so maybe he just pulled something. I knew this neighbor lab puppy was going to be trouble when an 8-year-old girl was hauling him around unleashed and uncollared at 6-7 weeks. He's now 3-4 months and pushing 20 pounds. He was totally unattended. I had Eddie on leash and Jack in a heel when he plowed into them. I'm so sad. |
Awww, kisses to Eddie. Hopefully it's nothing, maybe just a pulled muscle or something. Try the warm bath. I know for me, my doctor used to say to poor baking soda into my bath water to get out my knots and relax my muscles. I don't know if it's ok for animals but you can ask your vet about that too. Hopefully all is well with poor Eddie. |
Poor Eddie!! Would he allow a little moist heat on it? Hope it's nothing serious .... maybe just pulled a little muscle or something! Hugs & sweet smoochies from Toto! Please update us. |
Awww poor little Eddie. Maybe he pulled a muscle or stepped on something that hurt his little paw. I'm sure he'll be ok. Codie and Tia send him kisses. Keep us updated on his progress. |
Thanks you guys. I knew I could count on YT for some quick advice. I'll try the moist heat first, then maybe a bath. It might be too difficult for him to stand in the tub. He's hasn't acted like he's in any pain at all and has no problems when I examine it. I can't even recall him yelping when it first happened. I'll let you know how it goes! |
Poor little Eddie, since it was cold he may have just pulled something in his leg....Get Well soon Eddie....my crew sends hugs & kisses....especially Lexie....;) |
Poor Eddie! Hopefully he has just pulled a muscle in his leg |
Poor little guy!!!!! :( :( :( I would definately keep him off that leg. I would put moist heat on it and make sure he doesn't walk around too much 2nite. If it is injured, you definately don't want him to injure it more. Also, if it isn't something serious, staying off of it will give him time to recover. Maybe he'll be good as new tomorrow! Hopefully it is nothing serious and just a pulled muscle. ((((((hugs)))))) from Hobbs and Hootie! Let us know what the vet says! |
It might just be his foot. That's the only thing he favors when I put heat on the area. Thanks for the well-wishes. He's never been hurt, so I'm freaking. |

Hobbs broke his leg from jumping off the couch when he was a tiny puppy. He also did not show any signs of it hurting and he didn't yelp when we touched it. The only sign was limping. The vet said that it is normal for them not to show pain because in the wild it was a sign of weakness for a dog to show pain and the pack would usually leave a weak dog behind. Surely it is not broken, but I just wanted to give you somewhat of an explanation of why he may not wimper or act like it is hurting. |
Awww poor Eddie! Hopefully its nothing serious! Let us know what you find out in the morning! Hope you ouchie goes away Eddie! |

Scout did the same thing one day. I freaked out too. I took him to the emergency vet and waited for an hour and he started walking on it again without being seen (thank goodness$$$). It's like he just turned it wrong or something. I hope your situation turns out the same! |
ooh poor little guy, hopefully he just strained it, Rosi&Poli send get well kisses ! |
my duke hurt his little back legs a few weeks ago. i'm not sure what did it, but i think he fell off the bed when trying to jump on it and came down hard on his back legs. i took him to a retired vet. since it was the weekend and he gave me a pet therapy pad that i could put in the microwave to heat or put in the freezer to cool and he loved the heat. he didn't really show he was in pain, he was still wanting to walk around and such... but he wasn't playing and just didn't seem himself. but, after a night (i slept in the floor with him to make sure he wouldn't jump anywhere!) he was back to his normal self. guessin' he was just a little sore and nothing major. i'm takin' him for a well doggie check-up soon and i'm going to have them check him out for any thing he may be tryin' to hide. hope things go well for you and that he's just a little sore and is back to normal soon. |
