Oh, wow! I hope your vet is wrong, wrong, wrong and it's just a temporary thing. I'm hoping for the best. I am busy today, but I had to pop in to see if there was news. |
I just saw this post. I am hoping for the best Mike, for you and Eddie both. Please let us know when the vet is certain. On the positive side, if it is what the vet thinks, at least you have experience in dealing with this and the recovery prospects. Hugs and kisses to Eddie!!!! |
Good news and bad news Vet just called back with confusing news. He called it good and bad. X-rays showed nothing. He still thinks it's a strain or tear with the cranial cruciate, but it's not bad enough to show up on an x-ray or to limit his range of motion. The bad news is, he can't really treat it. If it is a small strain or tear, it will get better but then recur until he eventually injures it badly. He said if Eddie was 20 pounds or more, he would consider surgery now. But being only 9.2 pounds, he could be just fine. Bottom line is he's not recommending surgery now. He expects him to be walking by Friday with anti-inflammatories. If that happens, he'll re-Xray him in 3 months and take it from there. I'll have to pull him out of his current agility class :(, but vet said his 'career' is not necessarily over, even if he has surgery. I'm not going to take any chances, though. Agility is the least of our concerns. Thanks again for your concern. I'll let you know how he's doing. And an edit in case this ever happens to you: The vet said I did good bringing him in immediately. He said most people ignore it until it becomes a real problem. |
Wow, poor Eddie!!! :( Hope he heals QUICKLY! |
That's good news & bad news! Poor baby, I hope it clears up and never bothers him again .... he's in such good physical shape, is that possible? We will keep the little fella in our prayers! |
Mike, I just read about Eddie..... keep your chin up, my friend. We are all praying for Eddie's speedy recovery -- a full and complete one. Eddie is young and strong and quite an athelete. It is very possible that he just has a minor "sports" injury that needs rest. Sending Eddie hugs and kisses and get well :ghugs: |
I read up on the condition that they thought he had and found that it usually only appears in large dogs (think St. Bernard, Mastiff) or extremely overweight dogs. I guess it can happen with any dog though. Hope he's feeling better soon! |
Sorry to hear this. I missed this post earlier. Hope he gets to feeling better, an that it's nothing serious. |
Hi, Sending well wishes Eddie's way. I always enjoy reading about the "alaska yorkies" :) I actually saw a video that you made on YouTube the other night. My daugther was browsing dog videos and we found yours! It was super! Hope all turns out for the best. |
Well, I think I'm glad to hear that Eddie doesn't need surgery right now. I hope his foot/leg heals completely and there won't be a future need for surgery either. Good think you took him in when you did. Please keep us updated with any changes. Hugs & kisses to Eddie!! |
i have been watching for an update. I am glad it isn't any worse than it is. they just worry us sick sometimes don't they? I hope he feels better soon. I know what it is like having legs hurt all the time and barely able to walk. It don't feel good does it Eddie? :getwell: |
