| what is this? The bald spot came about in a 4 day period. The area is greyish and scaly looking. There is a hard red bump developing that came on the 4th day. Went to the vet, he wasn't quite sure what it was. Administered "Program" flea control pills that he said would take care of possible ringworm. Also gave an antibacterial medicine. Took a scraping and said it wasn't mites. My dog "Sterling" plays and acts normal, and he doesn't itch the spot. Has anyone had something similar? Can you help me identify what's wrong with my dog? Thank in advance. |

| my suggestion... my mom's dog prissy gets those bumps after shots. She is allergis to the basic shots which we don't give her or any of our babies anymore and she gets them from the flea treatment frontline...i hope this helps. You do know the only snual shot you have to give your bsby isd rabies unless your dog is an outdoor dog which most yorkies are not. I only give mine rabies after the puppy shots are done! They are all fine! After mom stopped the anual shots an frontline prissy stoppe the breakouts! I hope this helps you! ~Tru

| Hmmm...looks like it could be a hot spot...caused from a bacterial infection due to excess moisture next to the skin. Is it warm to the touch? Then again, I'd have thought if that WAS it, your vet would have caught it strait off... |

| It could be anything from sensitivity to a flea bite sensitivity, ringworm, cyst, tumor, buried larvae like a maggot, etc. Is the small red dot a drainage hole? Does it drain? Does it itch? Did the vet talk about aspirating it with a needle? If the meds are working and it is some type of bacteria or fungus you should start seeing hair regrowth within 10 days I would think. If not, I would think you're dealing with some type of cyst. Just looked at the pics again - where is this located - could it be where they gave the rabies vaccine? |

| It looks terriable. I don't know what it is but I'd find out as soon as you could. Did your vet have any suggestions on what it might be?

| Thank you to everybody for the warm welcome! Well we don't know what it is yet but we are waiting to hear back from the vet as he did run some tests. It is just in the shoulder area on the back and I don't if it's allergies because he didn't get a shot recently. And he doesn't wear a harness he's usually pretty good. Well I guess I'll just keep waiting. |
