| How much does he weigh? Valium and phenobarbital are drugs with side effects and damaging to the liver, but if the seizures are bad than you might not have a choice. Did they perform a blood test to see if anything looked strange there, like high ammonia levels because seizures are also a symptom of liver shunt. What type of seizures does he have (see link below for epilepsy info and it describes the different types of seizures. Does he have any other symptoms of a liver shunt? Liver shunt symptoms: incoordination sporadic weakness disorientation head-pressing behavioral changes drooling stupor mental dullness anorexia pacing vomiting diarrhea blindness seizures coma Do the seizures correspond with the monthly heartworm meds? Here's a natural approach to epilepsy. http://www.nzymes.com/Testimonials/b...OVMTC=advanced Here's another link about diagnosing and treating epilepsy and all the tests that should have been performed to diagnose it as such. http://www.canine-epilepsy.com/FAQ.html#anchor6015685 Read through the links I provided and do some research on your own and you will be better able to help your vet and your dog. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | POOR baby !! I really don't think it's normal at all for yorkies to be sick but there has to be a reason your little guy is seizing and it can't be good - and good post by Lacy's mom - they can run tests to get to the root of the problem.... and if I were you - I'd do that - GOOD LUCK !! |

| my sasha started having fits aged about 2 or 3 its very scary at first but after time you dont panic as much its just something that happens and you deal with it. she would no when she was going to have one after a while and would come over to me and i would also no after time when she was gonna have one as you notice little things just b4 a fit, i would pick her up and take her in to the garden as the fresh air would bring her out of it quicker, i would whisper in her ear carmly and tell her she was a good girl and tell her she was ok and hold her gently on my lap and stroke her untill she came out of it which i always knew when she was as she would kiss me, this all must of helped her as like i said as soon as she felt one coming on she would come to me. the only thing that i did have to do was when i went out i put her in a baby playpen that had soft mesh sides so if she had one when i was out she wouldnt hurt her self as once when i was out she must of run in to a wall as she hurt her neck. i hope this helps.

| there are many different causes of seizures, if the test results do not show any imbalance....think about what recent changes youve made in your home environmentally, like new carpet, new flooring, new cleaner, new disinfectant or anything you may have changed in his/her diet. A friend changed the disinfectant she used in her puppy pens...it caused seizures...once she changed again they stopped, anyway just a thought! hope your baby is fine soon
